I'm a bit late getting around to this week's AOTW. So without further delay, I give you the self-titled fourth studio album from King's X. If you aren't familiar with King's X, the band is an American power trio that dips into metal, funk and soul. A little bit of it all.
It's a cool album. I really like the song Black Flag. I like Lost In Germany too.
A used copy can be had on Amazon for about 6 and a half bucks. Buy some music, that's all I have to say this week.
Tracks:
1. The World Around Me
2. Prisoner
3. The Big Picture
4. Lost In Germany
5. Chariot Song
6. Ooh Song
7. Not Just For The Dead
8. What I know About Love
9. Black Flag
10. Dream In My Life
11. Silent Wind

For no apparent reason, I could never get into their music (maybe because they aren't melodic), but I do have great respect for their talent and I do own some CD's of their side-projects and guest appearances.
Actually, if I remember correctly they had one song on one of those Bill & Ted Soundtracks and I do own both of those CD's.
That song (Junior's Gone Wild) sounds a bit different from anything else I've heard from them.
And I bought a CD on your recommendation. Not King's X, but it was never specified, so I guess it's OK.
Coming after FHL, this was a bit of a letdown and it seemed even more of a letdown with their next album, "Dogman". But a King's X letdown is another bands greatest album ever, so nothing lost here. It grew on me with more listens, but it's somewhere middle to lower of the pack in King's X land but it would still be another band's greatest album ever!
Not melodic? Say what??!!!!
There is a simple test for that.
You have to ask yourself: "Would Mary Poppins sing these songs?"
I think not.
I don't know boss... I cant find anything about this band or its off-shoots that I can sink my ears into. The songs are just not interesting. The musicianship is top notch, I would never argue against that, everything else is flat...
I'm out of the Kings X business...
Good thing I'm not JS, I would post 'em for the next 5 weeks...
There are no birthdays today
