As promised last month, I am counting down my 11 favorite albums that I originally posted as AOTW when I was on Classic Rock Revisited.  Coming in at number 10 is this week's album by Queen.  News Of The World was released in 1977 and is 4 times platinum in the United States.  It contained 4 singles, two of which were huge hits.  We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions were released as a double A side single in the U.S., where it reached number 4.  Although it failed to reach the top of the charts, it is still played as a double A side on every radio station that plays at least some form of classic rock.

I don't really remember what I said about the album the first time I posted it, but I do know that it's my favorite Queen album.  Side one, in my opinion, is perfect.  Side two is pretty good as well, although I wouldn't call it perfect.  The only two songs on here that I'm not big on would be Who Needs You and My Melancholy Blues.  That's not to say they are bad songs, just not as good as the rest to me.

I love the album cover.  This would easily make an album cover tournament when we have one.  The album is still easy to find, and if I remember correctly, will soon be released in an all new remastered and expanded edition.  If you are even a moderate Queen fan, you should definitely own this album.

Best Single: Spread Your Wings (Surprised?)

Best Album Cut:  Sheer Heart Attack

Most Likely To Skip: Who Needs You

I like this album too, but I think We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions are pretty much unlistenable at this point since they are so overplayed.  But if I listen to this and exclude them its still a great listen.
I believe when you first posted this, you didn't like "It's Late". Could be wrong though? Nevertheless, never heard this album before, can't wait to give it a listen!
You are correct sir.  I also wasn't that big on Sleeping On The Sidewalk, but since then I have come to find merit in both songs, so they are now in the "like" column for me.
Not one of my favorite Queen-albums, but a great albumcover!!
