Okay, this week I'm featuring an official release in an unofficial way.  Paul Stanley's 2008 DVD release entitled One Live Kiss is this week's subject.  This was an official DVD release and you can purchase a digital download of the audio portion of the DVD through Amazon or iTunes.  But I did this one the hard way and ripped it from my own copy of the DVD.  So that's what I mean when I say an unofficial way.   Keep in mind that although this was released in 2008, it was filmed in 2006.  Now, about the audio:

The Band - Paul's backing band for this venture was the house band for Rockstar, a CBS show (Rockstar INXS and Rockstar Supernova).  The band is very tight in this performance.  The guitar solos are not always note for note, but they are still pretty good.  Overall, I'd say that it's a very good band performance.  However, it is quite strange hearing any voice other than Gene Simmons sing "You gotta lose your mind in Detroit Rock City!"

The Tracklisting - This is phenomenal.  Paul pulled out some Kiss tunes I've never heard live like Hide Your Heart, A Million To One and Magic Touch.  The only chink in the armor here would be the song Everytime I See You Around.  I would have much rather heard Reason To Live or I Will Be There.  It would also have been nice to hear Tears Are Falling.  Other than that, I can't find any fault with the songs representing this release.

Paul's Performance - As I mentioned before, this was filmed in 2006.  Paul's voice sounded amazing.  This is the voice that's always represented my favorite vocalist.  I wish he still had it.  He has lost range and the ability at times to hit the easy notes.   But that's another review.  His stage raps aren't too bad, but he does his usual vocal acrobatics, especially on I Still Love You and I Want You.

All in all, this is a very nice show.  I hope you enjoy it.

Okay, like Scott, I have a new logo for AOTW, but it's most definitely a work in progress.  It may change from week to week for a while.
like it!  I plan on changing mine as frequent as the comments suggest as well... will be kinda fun.  WIll give this a listen soon though
I have mucho respect for your design ability and know-how.  This crap is difficult for me.  I have Picasa, which is a free picture editor, so you can imagine it's quite limited.  I'm not yet ready to fork out money for good software like you use.  I have an idea for a design, but implementing it is  not easy...but I'll work on it.  Thanks for the kind words.

I'm not really to live-albums, with 4 or 5 exceptions, but I do like a good live-DVD, so I wish I could have seen the concert at the same time.

You're right, there's some good songs here: "Hide your heart" is a great song, and they do it okay live here. "A million to one" is great too.

Im kind if indifferent on this one.  Its just ok..  I really like the solo stuff, especially from the original solo album tracks.  Move On, Tonight You Belong To me, and Goodbye (which is just over the top cool) are really stand outs, Although the band intros at the end of Tonight are probably best seen and not listended to ...

It was cool to hear Magic Touch too, Dynasty is a personal favorite and besides the two hits gets ignored.  What a shame.

I skipped I Still Love You.  I like the original studio version but got tired of hearing it on every live set they do, its a flat song to me and at almost ten minutes I made an executive decision to pass it by.  Sorry

I struggled listening to the backing vocals too, it was a wrench that Im not sure I liked all that much.

Goodbye was easily the best track on here for me, one of his best choruses and riffs IMHO...

Cool post ...

Umm....this is great! Kiss is the greatest band EVER!

Ok, I listened to it.

Can't wait to hear Niels' Del Amitri list tomorrow!!!!!

How's the City Boy cd's you bought??

They're sitting in the pile of stuff I have to listen to.....I'll get to them eventually, I swear. Tageryche recommended an Armored Saint album awhile back so I picke it up and it's still sitting, waiting for a listen. I just have to be in the mood for City Boy, haven't hit that mood yet.

However, if I do not buy another CD this year, I guarantee all four will be given a listen. So, keep your fingers crossed (but don't bet, cause you'll lose ).
