Album: Balls To The Wall

Artists: Accept

Released: 1983

Label: Portrait (US)/RCA (Germany)

Producer: Accept

Chart Performance: #74 (US Billboard 200)

RIAA Certification: Gold

Singles: Balls To The Wall

Notes: Balls To The Wall was Accept's fifth studio album as well as their best American performing album for many years, up until 2014's Blind Rage.  The album was originally released in Europe in late 1983, but wasn't actually released in the US until 1984, to avoid competing with the band's previous album Restless And Wild.  There was controversy related to the album cover and a couple of the songs being interpreted as touching on homosexuality.  The band members seem to say that the album is about oppressed groups fighting back, be it homosexuals or bikers or any other oppressed group.  All of that is open for interpretation by the listener.  The single Balls To The Wall has become a metal anthem and has been covered by Fozzy, Amon Amarth, BulletBoys and Puscifer.  It has been featured on the TV show Beavis and Butt-head as well as being featured in the Grand Theft Auto series and the Guitar Hero series.

Community Standards????

What about Jon's standards? Are you DELIBERATELY TRYING TO MAKE SURE I DO NOT HIT 1000 ALBUMS THIS YEAR?

Second week in a row you're posting something I already listened to this year.

Damn you. DAMN YOU!

I got my copy of this CD signed by Udo Dirkschneider back in April.

I like this album, especially those first three tracks and more especially that third track with the AWESOME geetar solo that, when you think it's done, IT'S NOT! The second side has always felt like a bit of a letdown compared to side one, but it's still not bad.

Anyone who wants to sprak controversy because of some of the songs or even the album cover is a complete idiot.

  • My intro to Accept, man
  • I think they used to call this Heavy Metal, man
  • The follow-up, Metal Heart, is a must have, man
  • Riffmasters!, man
  • I agree with whoever mentioned that guitar solo, man
  • I like side 2, man
  • Get Metal Heart, man

Nice post, man!
