ALBUM OF THE WEEK # 50½ (MILLION DOLLAR RELOAD "ANTHEMS OF A DEGENERATION")

As a guest-host here on AOTW this week, I'm going to post 2 albums, and I will begin with "Anthems Of A Degeneration" by Million Dollar Reload(The second one, will probably be posted on friday). I became aware of this band/album last spring, when the song "Superslave" appeared on a "Classic Rock Magazine"-cd, and I liked it so much, that it ended on a 5th place (I think?) on my personal Top 10 of songs from 2010. But the album is not really from 2010. It was released in oct. 2008, but then it was remixed, remastered and re-released in 2010, and it's the remastered version I've got.I can't find much about this band on the internet, but you only have to listen to the first couple of songs, to hear that they are VERY influenced by AC/DC and Guns'N'Roses, and it sounds to me like, they could had made it big, back in 1988. They were formed in 2006, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Classic Rock Magazine said: "Vast hooks, killer riffs and moments of joyous abandon. The best debut since Appetite for Destruction".

Favorite Track: Superslave

Favorite Album Cut: Livin' in the city or Goodnight New York

Most Likely to skip: Fire your guns

I enjoyed this album quite a bit.  Cool riffs and a true classic rock feel to all tracks.  My favorite track was easily "Livin In The City".

Nice post Niels

Thank you, Scott. I'm glad, you liked it.
I shall not listen due to the disgusting album cover.
I shall listen 2morrow due to the disgusting album cover.
I have morals. Sniff.
Great idea for a thread, Jon. "Good albums with disgusting album covers"!!!!!!!
Or the opposite...then we can include Kiss!
This is pretty straight forward, old fashioned rock and roll.  This band sounds like a mix of AC/DC (vocally) and Guns N Roses (musically).  I think they definitely have potential, but a weakness for me is the songwriting.   It needs to be better.  But they do have time to improve that.  I enjoyed listening to the entire album, but the best song here is easily Livin' In The City.  The Last Icon is a cool song, but I think it could have been better.  I also think Keep Holding On was a decent song.

I'm going thumbs down on this because:

1) The disgusting album cover

2) Nothing clicked with me at all and I listened to this twice in a row. Sounded too much like Buckcherry to me.

I like this. Wish I could actually crank it up here at work and check it out better, but sounds pretty enjoyable to me. The vocalist sounds a lot like Marc Storace of Krokus to me. Will definitely listen to this again.

Cool. Yeah, I agree about Mark Storace.
