Finally, an album of the week for all the Rush fans around here.  Moving Pictures comes to us from 1981 and is the band's eighth studio album.  It was a big seller, at least 4 times platinum in both the U.S. and Canada, rising as high as number 3 on the Billboard Pop Albums chart.  The band released 3 singles from the album, Limelight, Tom Sawyer and Vital Signs.  None were particular smashes on the charts, but Tom Sawyer did reach # 44 on the US Hot 100 chart.

I personally like Tom Sawyer and Limelight, with the former being probably my overall favorite Rush song.  It is an outstanding song with incredible musical performance by all 3 band members.  Out of the other album cuts here, I do really like Red Barchetta and YYZ, with the latter being a very good instrumental.

The album is still readily available.  You can get a deluxe reissue which includes a digitally remastered CD and a blue-ray disc which contains the original album plus 3 videos, one of those being a previously unreleased video for Vital Signs.  All this for about 25 bucks.

XYZ?  Its actually YYZ and is the call letters for the Toronto airport...  just sayin' - oh!  Great Choice!
My bad bro!  That's why I need you Rush experts on staff to keep me straight.  My Rushification is still in progress.  But thanks for the heads up, and I knew you would be happy with this week's choice.

I bought this album in '88-'89, after I had bought "Hold Your Fire" and 2112. I did'nt really like this album at first, except for "Tom Sawyer". I really like the album nowadays, but it's not in my top 3 of RUSH-albums.

I think, that I sometimes get a bit tired of RUSH, and I'm probably in one of those periods at the moment. I can't listen to a whole album, except for 2112. I'll NEVER get tired of that album!!!

Good choice, though, RJhog and good to have you back from your (short) vacation.

Great pick, great album, great band. Is that enough superlatives?
