This week's album is one the early influences that helped steer me to a life long love of this style (classic rock) of music.  It's Bad Company's third studio album, from 1975, entitled Run With The Pack.   This is one of the albums that I remember my sister having.  When she let me start listening to them, this one got a ton of spins.  The album sold very well and hit number 5 on the American album chart.  The highest charting single from the album was a cover (Young Blood by The Coasters).

If you don't have this album or have never heard it, I highly recommend it.  It's loaded.  In addition to the singles, you have the classic rock radio staples Simple Man, Run With The Pack and Silver, Blue & Gold.  It also contains what is probably my all-time favorite Bad Co. song, that being Love Me Somebody.  Yes, I know it's a little easy going, but I've always thought it was a great, underrated song.  I haven't even mentioned the blistering album opener, Live For  The Music (I had a hard time picking the Song Of The Week this week).   The final three tracks are all that remain, and none of those suck either.

So this album is good from top to bottom and it's easily found online, but not el cheapo...it's about 10 bucks used, which should tell you I'm not BS"ing" you.  Check it out and pick it up.

Next Week:  No idea yet.

Bad Company was an early influence for me as well, but it was Straight Shooter that got to me.  But this one couldve easily had done it as well.

Great choice!

Never been a big Bad Company fan, but this album is ok. Have always liked Silver, Blue & Gold. First album I ever bought was Rough Diamonds because it was in the cutout bin, that might have turned me off a bit.

Good choice, decent listen but still doesn't change my mind about buying more of their stuff.

Try Straight Shooter or their debut album.  It may make you think differently.

Speaking as a huge Bad Company fan, I love seeing one of their albums picked for Album of the Week.

My favorite track from the CD is "Silver, Blue & Gold".

Looks like I made a pretty good choice for Song Of The Week.  And Scott, I picked up the Straight Shooter CD yesterday.

  • Bad Company - Desolation Angels (1979 Swan Song)
  • 10 From 6 (1985 Atlantic)
  • Dangerous Age (Itunes CDR)
  • Holy Water (1990 Atlantic)
  • Here Comes Trouble (1992 Atco)

Those are the Bad Company CDs I own.

Love Rock N Roll Fantasy and Crazy Circles off Desolation.

10 from 6, a simple compilation (every song is good).

Dangerous Age (I have it on cassette also), love No Smoke Without A Fire.

Holy Water, Holy Water, love the title-track and one other song from the album might play on the radio from time to time, but my mind is drawing blank without listening to it.

Love How 'Bout That off Here Comes Trouble.

I'll listen to this Bad Company CD online before watching the Utah Jazz NBA game, or something later tonight! :)

I have always like Bad Company, and it is great to hear this again. It's been a long time! I also really like the debut and "Straight Shooter" releases.

And for those of you who really dig Bad Company, you should check out a band called "Cold Truth". Their sound, especially vocally, and song writing styles are very much like Bad Co. I don't think it is a "rip off" in any sort of way. I just think the singer of Cold Truth has a sound and style much like Paul Rodgers...who is easily one of the best vocalists in rock history.
