Classic Rock Bottom

Let this thread be all about books.  What book(s) are you reading, or what book did you buy or are you buying.  You know, a book thread.  Even if it's a book on your wish list, I'm interested in knowing what it is.

Last Sunday I checked out The Rise and Fall of Heavy Metal from the local library.  I'm also in the middle of a book on The Beatles that I bought for 1 dollar.

And I want the new Sammy Hagar book.

Shouldn't this be in Pandora's Box?

That being said, I just finished reading the latest paperback mystery from Mary Daheim called The Alpine Uproar.

This morning I bought the new Rhys Bowen hardcover mystery Bless The Bride off of eBay.

Yes, it should be...

At the moment, I'm reading "Sealed with a kiss" by Peter Criss's former wife, Lydia.

"Full Dark, No Stars" by Mr. King.
Finished reading the Rhys Bowen mystery Bless The Bride.
Just finished "Stuntman!" by Hal Needham, starting on "Ghost Walk Blues", the first book in a triogy from Jonathan Maberry.

I finished reading the Jon Land thriller Strong Justice today.

Oh and I picked up the Iris Johansen thriller Chasing the Night in paperback today as well.

Well, believe it or not, I'm reading a commentary on the book of Acts from the Bible..because, in addition to loving rock and roll, I"m a long haired preacher.  Would love to know what you think of the Criss book, and I have and read the Sammy book...good read...and got to meet him and have him sign it.

Long haired Rock'n'Roll-preacher, sounds pretty cool!

The Peter (or Lydia) Criss-book is good. There's some awesome pictures in it. In fact, since late '76, I've seen million's of pictures of KISS, but I had never seen one of the hundreds of pictures in this book before fx. a couple of Paul and Gene in the studio recording Love Gun. And it's some interesting thinks, the former mrs. Criss has got to say,fx I did'nt know how much coke and other stuff PC (and the wife) were doing, apparantly a LOT. But sometimes it's a little too much, like you're reading her diary, and it IS a woman's diary, so sometimes I thought "Who gives a s...!" But I'm glad I bought it.

At the moment I'm reading a book about John Lennon, wriiten by Cynthia Lennon.

Now that book is great, I mean the Lennon-book. It's very interesting hearing the story from her side. One thing, made me look up from the book: I've just read a book about Paul McCartney of 5-600 pages, but a few lines in the Lennon-book described to me, much better, the person McCartney is. John Lennon wrote a very sweet letter to Cynthia and Julian, around the time, Beatles were playing the first big outdoor concert at Shea Stadium, but after the divorce, Cynthia needed the money, and was pissed at John, so she sold the letter, but did regret it. Years after, the letter was up for sale for a lot of money, and McCartney bought it, got it framed and gave it to Cynthia and Julian, even though they had'nt been that much in touch, since after the break-up. Cynthia wrote, that it was one of the most sweet and touching things, she had ever been a part of.
McCartney gets a lot of flak, but while I was a huge Lennon fan when I was younger, I now see him as a very talented, but sad individual, who needed a strong presence (Yoko), to guide him and bring him under some sort of control.  McCartney, while he has his faults, as we all do (and I have read both the Lennon book you have and if you are talking about the book "Fab", then I've read the McCartney book too), is an overall more down to earth and kinder, gentler soul.
