CLASSIC ROCK BOTTOM SPRING TOURNAMENT (BEST ALBUM COVER) - ROUND 1, BRACKET 1

Attention Facebook users...You are invited to vote in this tournament.  You do not have to be a member of Classic Rock Bottom.  Just comment on this post with your votes.  I will count all votes. And feel free to join Classic Rock Bottom, it's always free.

Classic Rock Bottom members, please cast your votes now.  I'm starting one day early because I will not be able to post a bracket on Friday.  I'll post one bracket each day (excluding Friday) until all 4 brackets for Round 1 are posted.  I will leave the voting open for a couple of days only on each bracket, so vote early.  After voting is finished in all 4 brackets, I'll count the votes and post the brackets for Round 2.

Thanks to Jon, Mike, Niels, Scott and TageRyche for helping me determine the participants.  All matchups were based on random draw.  Let the voting begin!

I agree Niels, that does show the detail a lot better, with it being lighter. However, I don't know if that would have helped it sway anymore votes. It may be frustrating, but I wouldn't hold the administrator accountable for this one. It had to be hard enough to look up all these & post them, I think asking him to adjust the contrast of each picture, would be way too much! I think the contest is Great, definitely don't want to discourage our good friend RJ from doing it again. So, if a few of our choices have to fall on the proverbial sword, they will just have to be casualties along the way of establishing this Great tournament!

I don't really think, it would have changed the votes. But who knows, maybe one or two. And absolute no, I don't either want to discourage RJhog for doing this again. But he knows me, by now, so he let's me moan a bit once in a while

Oh, and while I'm at it, THIS should have been the picture, regarding "born To Run":

Niels, believe it or not, I do attempt to find a better representative cover if I notice something in particular, but in the case of Ozzy and The Boss, I just didn't realize it.  Sorry bro.

I agree that an opinion is an opinion, that's all.  We all have 'em, and they don't always agree.  Believe me, there were a couple that made it that I would not have chosen, but I always try to be as fair as possible to everybody who takes the time to submit nominees to me.  Like Mike said somewhere in this thread, there are so many possible offshoots that we can definitely have more specific tournaments.  I promise to try to get a Fall tourney together this year.

Great point Mike, we all have differing opinions & that's what makes these tournaments & discussions interesting. There were nominee's that I submitted that I though were great & didn't make the contest, while there are some in the contest that leave me scrathing my head, but someone was passionate enough about them to nominate them. Not, that I get it, but I guess I appreciate the diversity of opinion.

I agree, judging solely based on the band & not the cover, totally defeats the purpose of the contest, but I have to admit that I had to use that tactic on a few occassions, where I saw no artistic value in either cover.

I myself, love the the banter!!! Whether it's promoting or bashing a certain nominee or compaining when it loses. It's all part of the fun!!!

I appreciate, all the efforts our administrator puts into this site. It takes a lot of time & effort on his part. But voicing our opinions is what this sites all about! Even if it is about the way you are running this crappy tournament! Ease up, just Kidding, didn't mean that at all! I think the tournament has been Great, so far!!! What better way to promote the site & attract new members, than with a visual contest, such as this! I think, this should definitly be an annal event. Even, do take off's on it, like Worst Album Cover, Best Album Photograph Cover, Best Album Conceptual Art Cover, Best Classic Cover & so, forth. Great job, to my good buddy RJ for putting this all together!!!

Better watch out Mike, you just might find yourself in charge of tournaments from now on...

On a side not, thanks for pushing the site.  I can't make people join or even vote in these tournaments, all I can do is give 'em a chance.  But thanks for recruiting new members (Drew and Noah for example).  You also may find yourself in charge of membership drives.

Jon,

Pinki Floyd?

What the...hahahahahahahaha????

Mike

Here'[s my last 7 cents:

For Kiss, someone sat in a nice temperature controlled room and drew a pictue. That's it.

While for the Pink Floyd cover they put an ad in the paper looking for a businessman willing to have themselves set on fire.

So, just need everyone to think about this again: a drawring or a guy that took a day off from his hectic office schedule just to have himself set on fire?

Valid point, maybe we should have been allowed to campaign for our nominees before the start tournament.

Wow, what a lot of discussion.

I move that we make it actual ALBUM covers...not those little jewel case things we have now, LOL!

Say, is it "You can't judge an album by its cover?"

Or is that for books?

Jon will know, LOL!
Pretty damn stirring conversation, more fun than the covers.

And now I have to work.

Later,

Mike

Well, if we ever have a "guy on fire" album cover tournament....we already know the winner!

Although I actually have an album cover where this dude, dressed up like a super hero or something, is diving off of a cliff...while on fire...BUT, only his cape is on fire...and it looks like he is diving into water...

So, Pink Floyd WINS the "guy on fire" tournament!

On a side note, I'll throw more praise RJ's way...I probably could n't even figure out how to post album covers. And by the way, the cover I'm talking about, with the super hero on fire...is "Time To Burn" by Giant.

I have that Giant album.

Yeah, give some credit to Rjhog. Not a lot, just a little. Don't want his head to swell....

Yeah, nice work RJ.

As I join the Hogfest, lol!
Mike
