No problem Dan.

I used to love the guy, mainly because no one was writing songs like Dylan was in those early days.

And I got into him in 1967, didn't even know about all the songs before that, but the then new FM radio filled me in.

After that he disappeared because of an accident, turned to country, became born-again, became un-born-again...Jesus, I can't keep up.

But always there were the songs, and he recently was on a hot streak of brilliant albums that reflected his older years.

Yeah, he's still got appeal.

But I probably wouldn't pay to go to a concert, he's too erratic.

And I'm too damn cheap, lol!

I'd take a freebie though.

Attention shoppers...this bracket will be closing tomorrow (March 4, 2011).

Okay, I just forced myself to watch all 6 minutes of Bob Seger's live performance of Turn The Page (Admittingly, I did nod off a couple of times). I then watched Love Hurts, the epitimy of a Classic Rock Ballad. I don't get why Turn The Page is up by 3 votes, what gives! Someone help me out here!

Mike, just turn the page bro...

Mike,

It might be because as good as it is, Love Hurts is a remake.

It was originally done by the Everly Brothers on an album, and then done as a single by Roy Orbison.

I recently played both of them.

Could be some folks think one of those is the classic!
Mike

Or it could be that this version makes me want to poke my eardrums so I never have to hear such a bunch of overwrought crappy caterwauling ever again.

Just a thought.

I'll post my votes now, which will officially close the Classic Ballads Bracket.  If my vote moves the contest into a tie, I will not count it (so technically I have the tie-breaker):

Free Bird

Crazy Love

She's Gone

Time For Me To Fly

Love Hurts

God Only Knows

How You Gonna See Me Now

Telephone Line

Here are the winners for the Classic Ballad Bracket:

Free Bird def. Hey Jude (12-5)

Comfortably Numb def. Crazy Love (9-8)

She's Gone def. Bridge Over Troubled Water (11-6)

Riders On The Storm def. Time For Me To Fly (9-8)

Turn The Page def. Love Hurts (9-8)

Stairway To Heaven def. God Only Knows (12-4) (one voter abstained)

How You Gonna See Me Now def. Love To Love (14-3)

Bohemian Rhapsody def. Telephone Line (13-4)

Thanks to everyone that voted.  We had outstanding participation.  Sixteen of thirty-two members (50%) voted, and we had one vote from Facebook, where I also post these in an attempt to increase our membership.  Round 2 will probably start next Monday.  Please keep voting.
