Classic Rock Bottom

Once I've already delved into a band enough to know their major chart-toppers and fan favorites, I begin to look into their category more deeply to try and find the songs that maybe aren't played on classic rock radio stations, or are very little known. The best CD I found in regards to this is Aerosmith's "Gems" album. I found some deeper cuts like "Adam's Apple", "Nobody's Fault", "Jailbait", "Chip Away the Stone", and "Lord of the Thighs", which I might otherwise have not known for a long time, had I not found this CD. To pose the main question of this discussion, does anyone have any classic rock band CD's/albums that fit into this "deep cut" category? If so, I'd love to hear them, because Greatest Hits CD's only last so long before you want something more!

This would be the point of the Hidden Treasures forum...  Each week I present a few tracks (sometimes a couple more than a few) that are not "hits" and represent the deeper tracks in a bands catalog.

Oh, I completely missed that- thank you for calling it to my attention! I'll be sure to go to that part of the forum!

no worries, its a cool topic!

Check out Uriah Heep's Abominog and Sea Of Light.  I've practically never heard anything by them on the radio, but I bought a stack of there CD's from the used CD store a while back and these two are most definitely worth your time and money.

I've hardly ever heard anything about Uriah Heep, in all honesty! It's classic rock, I'm assuming? '70s? '80s?

Abominog is from '82 and Sea Of Light is from '92, but they've been around since the early 70's.  Definitely classic rock.

I think Jon and Scott would tell you to dig deeper into UFO.  I'm beginning to do that myself, and everything I've heard has been very good.  But they can guide you better there.

At the sake of kicking a dead horse, Cheap Trick's catalog is deep in "deep cuts".  Cheap Trick '77, In Color, Heaven Tonight, Dream Police, Standing On The Edge, Woke Up With A Monster, Cheap Trick '97, Special One and Rockford are all very strong albums filled to the brim with hidden gems.

Also, ELO would certainly be worth exploring if you're only familiar with their hits.

Eloy!
