Classic Rock Bottom

BOO!

How childish can that be? I mean, how else can I start this off?

Stupid.

Just stupid.

Anyway, Halloween is coming up so I figured that I might as well post an album that's scary. Something that evokes absolute, 100% terror. Something that'll send chills down your spine.

Alas, I have no albums from Kiss so my dream was almost a no-go.

So....I'm doing the next best thing and featuring an album from Iced Earth, namely their 2001 release aptly titled (for this time o' the season), "Horror Show".

It fits quite nicely into the Halloween spirit by featuring songs about monsters and total evilness! What more could you ask for?

Maybe not a "lost" album or a "forgotten" album but music that fits quite nicely into this time of year.

I'm back to the short, choppy sentences!

BOO!

Horror Show

1. Wolf

2. Damien

3. Jack

4. Ghost Of Freedom

5. Im-Ho-Tep (Pharaoh's Curse)

6. Jekyll & Hyde

7. Dragon's Child

8. Transylvania

9. Frankenstein

10. Dracula

11. The Phantom Opera Ghost

Availability: Quite available!

MSoTW: Due to the lack of interest, no more mystery songs. Blame yourself. The last three, which nobody guessed, were Widespread Panic, Tears For Fears and Electric Love Hogs. So there!

MSoTW: Out of those 3 bands, I only know Tears For Fears, and for a long while, MSoTW has been too difficult for my music knowledge. Jon, maybe you could make it a LITTLE easier? Please?? Pretty please???
Ive heard of WIdespread Panic, but know none of their music, Tears for Fears?  if it was their early stuff Id have gotten it, and the last one?  never heard of them...  Im with Niels Jon!  Consider your audience...   hahahahaha
"Consider your audience"? Boy, does that ever open up a lot of doors!

I have some comments about this post.

First off, believe it or not, I like it.  The first song is killer...except for the insanely fast drumming.  I could really do without all of that kind of stuff.  It used to impress me, but not anymore.  Otherwise, great song.

Now I'm gonna blow your mind, or either make some folks ask "what's up with this dude"?  In some places, the vocalist sounds like a heavy metalized version of Paul Stanley.  It's mostly on some of the higher parts, but check out the verses on Dragon's Child.   It should be called Metallic Starchild.

I have Framing Armageddon, but have yet to listen to it.  I wonder if it's the same vocalist.

I was waiting for someone to RUIN this and bring up Paul Stanley.  Good job!

This is from www.allmusic.com:

"Fear not, the pummeling thrash chords of old still remain, while Paul Stanley's -- er, Matt Barlow's -- vocals still crackle with molten energy and untapped emotional well."

Framing Armageddon Part 1 is Tim "Ripper" Owens while Part 2 is Matt Barlow.

Thanks for the info...I figured I was the only one who heard it that way.
No, and I tried to keep it hidden.

I can't say I have listened to Iced Earth in a LONG TIME! Loved the song "Watching Over Me" and the Something Wicked CD when I was fresh out of High School. Their new CD is out now, I found it both new and used. I imagine the used one will go fast (couldn't spend the money) but I'm going back for a copy.

Matt Barlow also sang on this CD, but I don't own it. I figure I probably have too many CDs and I need to cut back I guess. :(

Thanks VA, I actually checked this out yesterday.  Barlow's catalog does not seem to be vast, and from what I've read he is once again retired.  I'd love to hear him sing in a straight forward rock band, but I guess that will never happen.

And you can never have too many CD's...at least that's what Jon tells me.

So to Jon, can you guestimate the number of CD's that you own (or is that too personal)?

I want to say thanks again for getting the chance to hear so much new, and different, music on this site.

Having said that, this Iced Earth is a little too much for me. I love hard, heavy rock with tons of guitar, but this is not something I could listen to that often.

Try Tribute To The Gods - their tribute with Kiss, Blue Ouyster Cult, etc. That one is actually REALLY GOOD! :) I really liked it when it first came out. I think I still have a CDR of it in my car so I don't ruin the original.
