Classic Rock Bottom

A few weeks ago I featured a mystery song from this band and nobody guessed. So, in my infinite wisdom, I decided that I might as well toss this album up as a lost or forgotten album just because I could.

From 1994, this is Widespread Panic's fourth album and their first one I ever bought. Why I bought it I have no idea, but I think I was at Best Buy (when they mattered) and saw this album and decided that it couldn't be too bad since it had a cool album cover.

Or maybe I read about it somewhere and decided it was interesting enough so went to Best Buy (when they mattered) and bought it.

Either way, I got it and liked it. Liked it enough that I've picked up a few more Widespread Panic albums throughout the years but still like this one the best.

They're considered a jam band which always makes me think of The Grateful Dead who I can stand, but only in small doses. To me Widespread Panic is more of a southern rock band than a jam band, but I've never seen them in concert where I guess they, well, JAM.

What a coincidence, wait 'til you see what I'm posting for this week.

Yes, and it is a coincidence and ONLY and coincidence. I have made sure this is know here and somewhere else.....

Well...I thought I did. Hmmmm......

Speak English?
I'll try it again...it's on the site somewhere, you'll just have to find it.
DONE!
I'm confused...what is it I'm looking for?
You'll see...just look at the stuff you just posted.

Just finished this one.  I'm not very familiar with Widespread Panic's work at all.  As a matter of fact, I always assumed they were alt. rock and sounded like R.E.M.  They don't.  At all.

Who they do sound like, in some places, is Pearl Jam.   The song Jack really sounds like Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder.  The album isn't bad at all, but I wouldn't say great either.  What is great is the guitar playing.  Very Nice.

Good post Jon.  And I finally see what you've been confusing me about.

Yeah...no. Alt rock? Me? No.

Pearl Jam. No. Please. No. PLEEEEEASE. NO!

Nice Southern Rock feel to it.  Ive heard some of this band before and they are constantly touring through this area also.  In fact the guy who owns the CD Warehouse (Used CD store) is huge fan and is always selling tickets to their shows.

I liked this but not purchase-like!

And I got 5 bucks to anyone who wants to bet that the girl pictured here is NOT a fan of Widespread Panic.  Just sayin'

She's a fan of ME. And she probably wouldn't post an album in NMC that's over 30 friggin' years old!
SO my son just seen me reading this and he says...  "Widespread Panic?! Oh Man, they do that two day festival here every year and all the hippies come out"  ...  hahahahahaha
