Classic Rock Bottom

OK, another short and sweet one to finish up the years and finish up this month's salute to King's X side projects!

This week is the 2000 release from Platypus titled "Ice Cycles" and is their second release. Featuring an all star cast with Ty Tabor, Derek Sherinian, John Myung and Rod Morgenstein, it's a prog-rock effort and a mighty fine one at that!

Dig that album cover!

Didnt know Myung and Sherinian jammed with Kings X, interesting project.   Sounds very much like a jam session caught on tape!  There are some real nice progressive moments on this, but I have to question the production quality.  Is there a story behind that because it sounds very one-takeish and garagey? Thats not always a bad thing though I would say the druym proiduction is the issue on this one.

Never the less, I liked the way you closed this theme out, the last two posts have been pretty good.

Two final poitns and then I will wrap up my comments...

 - Bring back the MSOTW and...

 - add the girlie picture back!!

Heres my favorite 5 from your 2011 posts (In no particular order)...

Fleetwood Mac - Bare Trees

The Tubes - Love Bomb

Styx - The Serpent Is Rising

Roger Hodgson - In The Eye of the Storm (IT was my idea to post afterall  )

The Outlaws - Ghost Riders

This sucks because I didn't keep a lit of all your SHTs. So, I'll make it simple:

I liked everything except Kiss, Firehouse, Poison Nah, you didn't post Poison, but still).....

Everything else was groovy, man. GROOVY!

Not sure if this is Lost/Forgotten. More like, nobody ever heard of it. I do remember seeing this CD pictured in flyers for some of my CDs from Inside Out Music.

So...Lost!

Yep, this was pretty good.  I actually liked the instrumentals.  Maybe by tastes are changing a bit in my old age.

I'd rank this second out of all the King's X related stuff.  The first one is still my favorite.  I haven't listened to Supershine yet, but I'm gonna try shortly.
