Classic Rock Bottom

A little departure this week since we're honoring our friends from overseas, particularly those in the Nordic countries and even more particularly those in Denmark!

Even though this album came out in 2008 and probably doesn't fall under the "forgotten" category", it could fall under the "lost" category since I don't believe a lot of folks here have heard this album, much less this band.

Ahh yes, we're talking about what I promised: VIKING MUSIC! Music to swill beer (mead?) to! Music to go on a journey in order to pillage and plunder! You know, the GOOD STUFF!

Korven Kunigas
1. Tapporauta (Killing Iron)
2. Metsämies (Forest Man)
3. Keep On Galloping
4. Northern Fall
5. Shall We Take A Turn?
6. Paljon On Koskessa Kiviä (The Rapid Has Many Rocks)
7. Ali Jäisten Vetten (Under the Icy Waters)
8. Gods On Fire
9. Kantaiso (Ancestor)
10. Kipumylly (Mill of Pain)
11. Suden Joiku (Yoik Of The Wolf)
12. Runamoine
13. Syntykoski Syömmehessäin (Rapid Of Birth In My Heart)
14. Korven Kuningas (King of the Woods)

Availbility: Readily available at fine merchants!

MSoTW: Nope, none this week but last week's is still out there. Now think of a couple women in Superman and combine parts of their names.

Special bonus: Since she has a new show premiering this Sunday and some folks here think she's wicked cool, why not a picture?

YES!  Jennifer Love-Hewitt!!!!

My gift to you

Im going to take a SWAG at the MSOTW again since nobody but me is playing anyway...

Lana Lane?  That seems to fit the clue, but I cant find an artist with the same name...

If that was a pure guess, I am in awe!

it was a guess but based on the Smallville character (I think) ...  sounds like its right

I bow to your awesomeness. She's actually put out something like a gazillion albums all since around the mid-90's.

J. Love...wow!

ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!  This be me first Viking music listenin' party.

I must say that although I couldnt understand any of the lyrics, it was better than expected. Dont get me wrong, Im not going on a run of Viking music purchases.  The musical style doesnt work for me, and the vocals were questionable at best, but it was very cool hear this for the first time.  I get the feeling that this is pure and simply "Music to drink by" ...  Niels?  Can you confirm?

Thanks Jonster the Barbarian!

and if anyone can clarify what a "Yoik" is that would  be great!

Hahahaha. Is this actually one of your CD's, Jon?

Well, in a way, I want to get drunk, listening to this, very fast. In MJÖD and SNAPS. I COULD see myself at a party drinking very large beers, starting a fight and then rape a few women, while this band were playing live.

And Jon, your danish is improving. I'm impressed. Even though, I'm not sure what "hummpa" is?

I do understand, why it is difficult to find any danish viking-music. Finland, Norway and Iceland are the places where this kind of music is produced nowadays.

Yep, actually own it.

Humppa (shoot me, I mispelled it!) is a type of music from Finland. It is related to jazz and very fast foxtrot, played two beats to a bar (2/4 or 2/2). Typical speed is about 220 to 260 beats per minute. (thanks Wikipedia)

As this first song plays....all I can think of is...WTF????

Did I just hear this "Viking Rapper" say "shut the f..k up?"    Probably not, but I swear that's what I thought he said...sang...hollered....rapped...whatever it is.

Now the 3rd track is playing...and is that an accordian I hear? Is that "lead" accordian???

And now, since there is sooooooo much music to choose from...to listen to....the "stop button" must be used. I'd like to have vikings on my side....but not on my play list!
