Classic Rock Bottom

This was supposed to be the last WIshbone Ash L/F posting for awhile, or maybe forever. However, something happened and this is going to continue for a few more weeks.

See, I had the last album all picked out which, to me, is a mind-blower. Then I heard this album and decided that my original stop date could go to hell. Sure, maybe I've caused some Wishbone Ash overload the last month or so, but you'll see why I'm continuing after you listen to this album.

A man (don't know if he can be called a wise man) recently stated, "I didn't find the opening track very good, the guitar work is still good but the tune was just OK, I usually expect the opener to set the tone for the album and since this was a follow to Argus I had set my expectations to high, so ...". This was a response to the previous Ash album I posted, titled "illuminations".

Well sir, take a listen to the first song here and let me know if it meets your expectations. And while you're at it, listen to the rest of the album as well. I'm tellin' you (and I mean everyone), this is an incredible album. Personally I don't think there's a dud on the whole album, plus those that thought that there should be more geetars compared to "Illuminations", rest assured there's plenty of them geetars here.

Ah yes...the name of this album is "Bona Fide" and was released in 2002. This is more than 30 years after their debut and I'm impressed that Wishbone Ash is still putting out quality music like this.

"Come Rain, Come Shine" is a song about 9/11 and is a stunning piece of work. Listen to this song very carefully, it'll give you goose bumps.

I'm pretty sure whoever said that was indeed a wise man!

Wine drinker. Bleh!

I poured a glass Mondavi Merlot Reserve ... 1992 I believe... Started listening and decided this would be a much better experience with a Kendall Jackson Sauvignon Blanc. Since I just ran out I'll have to listen a little later.

Going to go and get some of that tasty boxed wine?

No way... I'm much to sophisticated for that especially when mixing it with Wishbone Ash

So I had this write up all done for this, but I got a little Wine-wasted and lost it.  So for the record because Jon loves this stuff,  it was Screw-Top Lemon wine, AKA Thunderbird, vintage was sometime in May 2012.  Top shelf stuff I'm tellin' ya!

I did enjoy this post better than last weeks, the one exception was ANCIENT REMEDY which didn't feel like it fit on here!  Kind of the ugly-duckling if you will...  But there's more than enough melodic lushness and geetar work to make up one filler track.

Anyway, long story short, Great album and I would really like to hear the mysterious best Wishbone Ash ever!

Nice Post Jon!

Yummy! Was it in a paper bag???

But I'm kinda hurt...you might know the guy that stated something about the first track on an album and I felt the first track here was da bomb! Alas, it doesn't seem so.

Makes me want to pack up my Ash and go home. (sniff)

I hate to ruin the feel good party here, but this is a step back for me.  At least vocally.  I was getting more accustomed to the vocals, then this.  Just don't like 'em on this album.  As usual now, the guitar work is out of this world.

I think it grows on you after awhile. At least it did to me. Just go with the flooooooooow?

Argus has still been my favorite so far, but I liked this one. I didn't have a problem with the vocals, with the exception of the first track. I didn't care for the vocals on it, but musically it was good. The guitars were great & after the first track the vocals settled in & it was a real easy listen.
