Classic Rock Bottom

After last week's pick (which nobody liked, damn them all!) I sat in my cell trying to figure a way to get bck in everyone's good graces. Luckily, during my daily time in the yard, I had an ephiphany...why not feature a well-known band this week? All signs pointed to "YES" on that. Next thing was to pick what band and what album and I came up with this one:

Supertramp, "Brother Where You Bound", released in 1985.

When "Breakfast In America" came out, I absolutely loathed Supertramp. Couldn't stand any songs on the radio and they were a bunch from that album getting significant airplay. A year later, thelive album "Paris" came out and the song "Dreamer" was played a bunch on the radio, and I liked it.

So I revisited Supertramp, and found that I liked "Breakfast...", so I picked up more of their stuff and found that "Crime Of The Century" is a fantastic album. So I was sold.

1982 came the release of "...famous last words.." and I hated that album. Hated that song about rain, and still do, because it seemed silly and stupid. Luckily I still had "Crime.." and "Breakfast.." to fall back on

Come 1985, I was in a record store and saw this album. I figured what the hell, couldn't be any worse then their last album so I stole it and ran home to give it a listen. And listen I did, for a couple weeks straight since it is that good.

Sans Roger Hodgson who had left the group, this is prog rock. Even features David Gilmour on the title track, a whopping 16+ minutes. Good stuff I say! And that's the last new Supertramp release I bought since this didn't sell particularly well and, even though there were some more new albums, you just didn't hear about them too much.

Oh wait, I lied. I picked up "Some Things Never Change" when it came out in 1997, and didn't like it.

MSoTW #11 is "One small step" with Ayreon, but...................I may have "cheated" in your book. I Googled it!!

Else, I would'nt have a clue!! This was a tough one, Jon!!!
never heard of them....
I have heard of Ayreon....just not into them.
I guess that's cheating? Don't know, will have to consult the rule book.
If it aint cheating, you better find "songs" with no lyrics, or else I'm gonna find them (I think?) on Yahoo.com (That's not "googled it", I guess I "Yahood it"!!)
Let the Commisioner speak:

"it's cheating"
