Classic Rock Bottom

Sorry, but I'm in a posting mood today!

Remember these guys? Some songs from this album got some serious airplay back in 1991, "Fly Me Courageous" especially. Thought this would break them big time but they were back to being forgotten after this release.

This is the fourth Drivin' n' Cryin' release, titled "Fly Me Courageous". For some reason it was classified as heavy metal but I really don't see it that way. It's hard rock, sure, but there also some country-tinged songs tossed in. Not your typical metalhead album.

If you haven't heard this album, there's three songs that might sound familiar. Or not. Listen to it anyway.

Just a nice, solid rock/countryish album that you can listen to HERE.

And that's all I gotta say. I think my posting mood is running out......

MSoTW: Niels got last week's pick, "Waterfall" from Wendy & Lisa. I tried to give Rjhog a chance, but it didn't work so this week I'm featuring a Kiss song just so he'll get one before the year is up. Or is it Kiss?

Definitely didnt hear any "Metal", more like Pop Metal if you really wanna go there. But it was a nice listen, really... I totally missed this band in 91, but I know why.

In 1991 I wasn't really happy about grunge taking over "my music", so I turned off FM radio, and crossed the generation gap. Staying true to what I thought I liked most at the time. Long story short, Stone Temple Pilots changed my min d and I went back an listened to a great movement I almost missed. This band must have come and gone in there somewhere...

Nice post Jon!
I remember this band. I attended UGA from 1988-1991 and those college kids loved this band. They come from Atlanta, which is about 50 miles down the road from Athens. And Fly Me Courageous was on the freakin' radio all the time. I was never much of a fan. To me, the biggest drawback for them was the vocalist. I don't like his voice at all.

Listening back today, they sound like a band that had a retro sound, even back then (that was twenty years ago). They don't sound metal, grunge or hair band at all. They kind of remind me of all the bands that try to sound retro today. There is some decent guitar work on this album. Overall, nice pick Jon.
Ahhhhh, you've been "listen" to me, Jon. If I'm not mistaken, MSoTW is by a NWOBHM-band, and I THINK, I know who it is!!! Can I say it????
Oh come on...let Rjhog guess Kiss.
Waaa...waaa...waaa
I'll guess it's allright for me to say: I think it's Tygers of Pan Tang with, is it called "Silver and Gold"? I've got two Tygers' albums, and this song is not on either of them, but I've heard it before a long time ago. John Sykes' old band!!
Yeah. Not Kiss. Surprise, surprise.
