Classic Rock Bottom

Released in 1984, Pat Travers' "Hot Shot" is one of my favorite albums from his catalogue, ranking up there with the previous "Black Pearl" release. However, as far as I know, this has never been released on CD in the US. Thankfully, Lemon Records from England was nice enough to release this and "Black Pearl" on CD a couple years ago.

Anyway, not too sure why I picked this up in the first place. My mind must be going because I don't remember if it was a blind buy or maybe it was a video I saw on tv while stationed in England. Either way, it was a great buy.

I had heard of Pat Travers before I bought this, mostly from his live version of "Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights)". There were some other songs that were played on the radio, but he was never given much credit, at least in my circles.

"Hot Shot" is simply a hard-driving, hard rock/blues album and it's solid from start to finish. Sadly, the album did not sell well and he was dropped from Polydor. He finally hooked on with Blues Bureau International Record in the early 90's and continues to release music.

Okay, I've got the mystery song this week.  It's from a movie.  Now I wanna watch that movie again.  It's been a long time since I've seen it.  Do you want me to post the band name or wait for some other folks?

I was about to ban myself from the website if I didn't get one soon.  Oh yeah, I'll listen to this album tomorrow at work and post my thoughts on it then.  I've never listened to anything by Pat Travers, so I'm looking forward to this one.

Don't wait for me. I have no idea??!!

Holy crap....maybe wait a few, I'm curius if someone else will get it. Kinda figured you would have seen that movie.

I'll give it time...I'm just happy I didn't have to ban myself.

I got this MSOTW also.  But lets give RJ the glory on this one....

I listened to the album this morning.  It's very decent, but not earth shattering for me.  I do have a question.  Is Pat Travers the vocalist?  I don't know anything at all about him except his name, and I was just curious if he was the singer.  The guitar playing is very good.

yup, he is the singer also.

For me, Crash and Burn is his masterpiece.  Top to bottom solid guitar rock!  I like some of his other stuff, but don't own anything but Crash and Burn.  This is a solid album though, I like his guitar sound and he is an underrated player.

Good listen.  Im gonna revisit when I can pipe it through my stereo speakers...

ok, so Im just gonna say it.  STEELHEART is the MSoTW.   Still love the Travers post!  If you have more I would love hear.

I thought it was Steel Dragon...:-)

hahahaha...  FYI - Im using this small net book and the keyboard sucks!
