Hevy Devy month continues with Strapping Young Lad's 1997 album titled "City", a nice little band fronted by Devin Townsend.

This is the second Strapping Young Lad album, preceded by "Heavy As A Really Heavy Thing" which I felt was a bit too aggressive to post, so I opted to the friendlier second album, something that everyone can sit back enjoy.

Imagine packing the kids, your significant other and (hey, might as well take Sparky along too) heading out for a nice Sunday afternoon at the park. Don't forget the picnic basket and the lawn darts! Just make sure they're the plastic ones because you sure don't want Betty "accidentally" throwing a lawn dart at little Eddie! Plastic ones won't stick in Eddies head but those metal ones sure will and we just don't want that on our quaint Sunday outing now, do we?

What would make out little Sunday trip that much better would be some music te whole family can sing along too! Lessee....what do we have?

Disney tunes?

No?

Hmmm...last week we brought along the soundtrack to "Grease" and had a really fun time with that! Well, except for those songs with those suggestive lyrics, of course.

Hey, how about some Strapping Young Lad? It's something everyone can get into! Yes? Yes!

Oh, who am I kidding here. This is as metal as metal can be. First listen you might think it's just noise, but listen again. There's actually some serious melody going on here, as well as a huge dose of humor.

I can almost guarantee that a majority of those that listen to this for the first time will absolutely hate it and can almost understand why. However, you must make sure you go into this with an open mind and realize that this is HEAVY metal.

WARNING: There is some really bad language on this album. Listen to this alone or with headphones. Headphones are highly recommended because you can really hear what's going on. And as a sidenote, this is a fantastic album to listen to at high volume while driving around with the windows rolled down. Really!)

Since Scott and Niels say The Knack, I'll say The Knack...

I'll throw in and guess The Knack too.
