And what I thought was a glorious idea, an idea so grand that everyone would be bowing down to me, ends in total, abject failure.

 

Hey Devy month closes out with his 2007 solo album, the final featured album (title above, it's just too long to type) of a series of albums I thought SOMEONE SOMEWHERE would halfway enjoy.

 

Sigh again.

 

Guess I gotta say this: if you didn't like the previous two albums posted, you most probably won't like this one. But it is about an alien who comes down to earth to find a great cup of coffee but, when it doesn't meet up to his standards, he attacks.

 

Plus, Devin plays all the instruments on this album with an assist from software titled "the Drumkit from Hell" so it's gotta be a little bit interesting, right?

MSoTW: Rjhog was on the right track and Scott gt the whole tamale. I guess congrats are in order? I think this week's song will be very tough. You may think you know the singer, but it's probably not who you think it is.

No clue at all on this weeks MSoTW, nothign even sounds remotely familiar.  Clues please?

 

ZTO: Sounds like someone was playing Asteroids in the background.  OK, I cant wipe the grin off my face from the premise of the album, but mostly because of the album cover.  Lets face it, Ziltoid doesnt look like the most intelligent creature, afterall he did leave his home planet for a cup of coffee.  Wheres his sense of business?  He shoudlve stayed home and created the best cup of coffee and got rich!  Ziltbucks, or Ziltwell's House, he couldve branded himself and lived long and prospered. 

I mean it took one googled search to find an opportunity for him...

That's funny with the coffee-drinking alien, but weird, very weird!!

I don't know who MSoTW are, but I like the song. Very Queen-like. Are they english? Is it a band or a solist? What decade is it from?

Not English. It's a band. Album came out in...why that might give it away. One of the members played with ******* (that would give it away too). Keep guessing cause I have a plan and I am going to be stingy on clues. Who does the singer sound like?

Who does he sound like? Hmm, Joe Lynn Turner, Lou Gramm or Daryll Hall, but I know it's neither of them.

If Ziltoid is omniscient, wouldn't he have known the coffee wasn't going to be good?

I just read a review of this album, as it turns out, the Omniscient title may be warranted since this bad cup of coffee saga turns out to be nothing but a dream, just a scary little dream...  A foreshadowing that coffee on earth was to be forever inadequate in the eyes of those who dwell on Ziltoidia, but alas...  what Ziltoid does with this new found knowledge is left to the yet to be released sequel...

 

And no Jon, I havent been drinking....

Okay, I just can't get that lead vocalist on the mystery track.  It's such a good song, and I agree with Niels that it's very Queen like.  He sounds kinda like Freddy Mercury if Freddie had a cold or something.

 

As for Ziltoid, here's what I think...........wait for it.............................

 

 

 

 

I like it.  It's the best of the 4 Devin Townsend recordings that you've posted.  The songs are good, and the monster type vocals really fit the places they are used.  The drums absolutely rip, especially on the first few songs.  My favorites are By Your Command and Hyperdrive, but all in all a pretty good album.  I'm not all that into concept albums or thinking about what concept albums mean, but if the music is good, then who cares if it's a concept?  I don't.

wow, Im shocked...  cause I havent been able to get into this one either, another shocker!!!  And Im out on the MSoTW, I need clues that practically tell me who it is, cause I am not even close to being in the ball park on this one.
