Classic Rock Bottom

I think this quote from www.allmusic.com sums up this album perfectly: "Strength was sadly lost in the shuffle of the alternative rock revolution and through sheer record company incompetence...".

Quite a shame really, since this is a fantastic album, released in 1991. Most everyone had crap like Nirvana on their mind and albums like these just got lost in the shuffle.

Take a listen and you'll find a strong Beatles and Cheap Trick influence (if you doubt me, go read a review of this or any other Enuff Z'Nuff album) but with their own spin. I don't know, maybe this music was over the head of the typical record buying weeble.

Am I bitter? Nah.

Good thing I'm around cause now maybe a few more people will get into this album and find that it's something they missed out on way back then.

Short and sweet....if you want more details, just read about the album on the internet.

MSoTW: Scott got the last one pretty quickly. This week's should be much harder.

Now, since Scott gave some false information last week and until Rjhog guesses a MSoTW correctly, THERE WILL BE NO MORE PHOTOS OF KYLIE OR THE LIKE!

Instead, you will have to deal with stuff like this:

A pretty nose.
Note that there are no videos. That shows my respect for you.
I don't know who MSoTW are, but it's a good riff. I'll listen to the album tomorrow,
....or the day after.

Jon, this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that you liked my AOTW post, but I really, really like this album, especially the first half of it.  It did slow down a bit, but that didn't necessarily make it bad.  I've heard of Enuff Z'Nuff before, but I always imagined them as one of countless hair bands that suck.

The first song immediately made me think of GNR, which won't win me any props from Jon I'm sure.  The second song was outstanding.  Then the third song just blew me away.  The Beatles/CT influence is very strong on this track.  As a matter of fact, it sounds like a Beatles song that Cheap Trick would cover.

I would like to buy this, but for less than 8 bucks.  I'm gonna check the used cd store b/c I specifically remember seeing several Enuff Z'Nuff cd's there, I just don't remember what they are.  One question Jon, has the band had the same vocalist all along?  I like his style a good bit.

Great post, probably my favorite LAOTW to this point.

Yep, same lead singer still.

Hmmmm, it aint a bad album, but...

Yeah, it's right, there's both Beatles and Cheap Trick in the sound of this album, especially in the song "Strength", and why listen to it, when you can have the real thing?

He sings a lot like Elvis Costello, and sometimes, they sound kind of like a hair-metal band to me.

The song "Holly wood ya" sounds a lot like Elvis Costello, when he was working together with Paul McCartney in 1989. Not VERY original, this band!

"The world is a Gutter" and "Mother's eyes" are probably the best tracks imo.

It aint bad, but not really my cup of tea. I'm glad, I had crap like Nirvana on my mind at that time.

I thought the vocalist sounded like Elvis Costello on the first track as well...
And that's the mistake...they ain't no hair metal band.

No idea on the MSOTW the week.  But I have faith in RJ to pull through and save us from more photos like whatever that is...

The album is just an ok listen for me, I totally hear the Elvis Costello voice and that's not a good thing for me.  Musically its not too bad though, I got the Beatles vibe as well, especially the 4th track with that Strawberry Fields organ.  There's a lot of talk about this band on other classic rock sites, I think they must have some recent music they put out, but this is a first for me.

Nice post !!!

This weeks MSoTW is.........wait for it........."Kings Of The Sun" !!! TA-DAAAAAAHH!!
