Classic Rock Bottom

Since the first few months of this year have been pretty weak on the new release side, I went through Martin Popoff's "The Collector's Guide To Heavy Metal Volume 3: The Nineties" to see if anything caught my eye enough to warrant a purchase.

When I came to Harem Scarem, he basically trashed their first album, kinda liked the second and really liked this one which he stated that it kind of sounded like a "down-tuned King's X" which sucked me right in. So I decided, what the heck, I'll pick it up since he hasn't steered me wrong yet.

And he still hasn't steered me wrong. The first listen I really liked it(I heard a LITTLE bit of King's X, but it's more along the lines of Lillian Axe to me), the second time liked it even more and, listening to it again, really like it even more.

I want to pick up more from Harem Scarem, but reading the reviews of other albums, it seems like subsequent albums are different from this which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I don't want to waste money on something I don't like. Good thing Tageryche knows a bit about this band and can maybe do a little comparison between this album and the one he recently posted? Huh, can you?

Anyway, the title of this album is "Voice Of Reason" which came out in '95.

And there you have it.

Voice Of Reason

1. Voice Of Reason
2. Blue
3. Warming A Frozen Rose
4. Let It Go
5. And That's All
6. Breathing Sand
7. Candle
8. The Paint Thins
9. I'll Be Brief
10. Untouched
11. Necessary Evil
12. Candle (acoustic)

Availability: Around $10.

MSoTW: Rjhog has actually correctly guessed two in a row. It won't be three, I can guarantee it. And, when he doesn't, it'll just prove my point.

OK fine....nobody liked last week's picture? Can you tell me why? Is what's below the only person you want photos of?

Yeah, if you can post that, it would be great!

And I am shocked...shocked I say! Three in a row? Really?

POLL TIME!

Should I put Rjhog back in his place next week?

a) YES!

b) yes

c) yep

d) no

e) Who's Rjhog?

Wait a minute, I thought you were "putting me back in my place" for the last 3 weeks now...what gives?  I get 3 in a row and not even a modicum of respect from you.  Man...
I was making you THINK I was putting you back in your place, just so you would sweat. But sweat you will...and there's an iota of respect, a respect speck I guess you can say.
Try a track without lyrics next week. If RJhog get's that too, I believe, he can fly!!
Niels is correct here, because, as I've said many times, I'm not a fan of instrumentals, therefore it's a safe bet that I will not know it.  But that's okay.  I have issued a decree in which I'll put my superpowers at rest for the time being, in interest of the site, so that others may participate more actively.  I will come out of superpower hibernation at a time that's just right for all of the people of the world, even my Danish brethren.

I'll look forward to that.

When that's said and done, I miss the times, when we got a clue, and guessed wrong and got another clue a.s.o.

If it would have been the case this week, I would probably have said: "Gee, it sounds a little bit like Robert Plant?", and Jon would have said "No way, but......".

Wait till next week. And I was SERIOUSLY thinking about doing an instrumental. You know, for those that look up the lyrics.
Actually I can't give a comparison. I haven't been able to listen to any other HS stuff than the album I reviewed. I was never able to get around to it.
