Classic Rock Bottom

A couple things:

First, I was going to continue with Mr. Hughes but when I tried to convert the files, the second disc of the album would not load because, for some reason, "the file could not be found". I guess that means the end of Mr. Hughes for awhile. Bummer because I had some really cool stuff to share. Oh well, that's life I suppose.

Thankfully, Scott gave me an idea so at least we've got something this week!

Secondly, I received a rather nasty email from someone (name withheld) telling me that I could no longer write "stories". This person said this is a music site and I could only write about the music I post and nothing else. my feelings are really, really hurt now.

But, what can I do?

Here goes:

This week's release is the first solo album from Roger Hodgson after he left Supertramp. Released in 1984 is sold billions and billions of copies and is the biggest selling album of ALL TIME. So big, that everyone has a copy of this album. So big it was #1 on the charts for at least 20 years.

So why post it if everyone has it?

Scott's idea!

Maybe, just maybe, there's someone that doesn't have this album. So this is kind of like a service, in that they'll listen to it and then rush out to get it. Simple as that.

If you like Supertramp, you'll like this album. If you don't, you might still like this album. Even if you don't like Supertramp you probably own this album anyway so there should be no complaints. Unless you own it and don't like it. Then you can complain.

This is a very, very VERY good album!!! "Had A Dream" has one of the best intro's ever!! "Give Me Love, Give Me Life" (not "Give Me Like"  ) has one of my alltime favorite "riffs". "Lovers In The Wind" is PURE Supertramp at their best!!! I remember, I bought this album in '84, the same day I bought "Ride The Lightning". Must be the weirdest "double-buy", I ever made. I don't complaint. Not at all.
So I'm on the right track! Everyone owns this album!
Yeah...no.
Ive told you a billions times to not exagerate!
I try and try and try and just can't do it.

Not really sure where you get these MSOTW song but Ive never heard any of the last several and nothing about them is familiar, so Im out again...

I own this as well, and I love the way you snuck this in at the most appropriate time!  I can almost hear RJ clicking on the REPEAT button!

Niels is right, the opener has one of the best intros ever!  Im pretty much a fan of the entire album, though I must admit I dont have any of his later solo work.  Time to head out into the Zune Marketplace and give it a go!  Get Ready RJ!  By the time were done with you you'll be begging for a Supertramp reunion!

Lovely pic as usual!

Guardian Angel by Lana Lane from the album Secrets Of Astrology

This was a tough one.  It took a bit, but I reached deep into my memory and remembered this ladies amazing voice.

As for Roger Hodgson, see my revamped and permanent grading scale:

1. Had A Dream (Sleeping With The Enemy) 8/10 (Good start, really catchy tune although it's a bit long-winded)

2. In Jeopardy 6/10

3. Lovers In The Wind 8/10 (This reminds me of Christopher Cross)

4. Hooked On A Problem 5/10

5. Give Me Love, Give Me Like 6/10

6. I'm Not Afraid 6/10 (Started nicely, but I didn't like the end)

7. Only Because Of You (7/10)

Album Art 3/10 (Looks really amateurish)

Total score is: 62%

This isn't gonna change my mind.  I do like his voice at times and that first song to me is the best on the album.

Thanks for posting.  I'll keep listening.

Heard of her but never heard her. Has she done anything stateside?
This was released over here.
I don't know. At least 7 studio albums since '95, so yeah?
Ugh...   To quote the movie "The Waterboy" ...  OH NO!  I Suck again!
