Classic Rock Bottom

Busy week friends!  So sorry this NMC got pushed a bit in favor of earning a paycheck..  But I'd rather be doing this...  Technically this is NMC #6, but it appears as though we have 2 #4's.  So in the spirit of maintaining integrity to this list there is no NMC labeled as #5.

For #6 however, its a very European NMC, so grab a cup of tea, turn off the telly and let's roll....

Asia - Omega (May 2010)

Second release from the reformed original band.  Hard to believe these four were considered progressive back in the day.  But they were, and they've not compromised their sound or style in anyway.  Strong effort all the way around.

1. Finger On The Trigger
2. Through My Veins
3. Holy War
4. Listen, Children
5. I Believe

W.E.T (November 2009)

...Content lifted from other site to explain who this is...
W.E.T. is Robert Sall (songwriting) of Work Of Art representing the 'W'; chief brains trust and multi-instrumentalist/guitarist/producer/songwriter Erik Martensson from Eclipse representing the 'E' and songwriter/vocalist Jeff Scott Soto representing the 'T' as in Talisman.  The band evolved from an idea out of the Frontiers Records office, who had the continued desire for JSS to deliver a melodic rock record, when the singer wanted to expand his solo name into other styles.
...back to my content...

Although the site above gives this release a perfect score, I would say the one critique is that its too serious from start to finish.  I like to hear a band just get into their tunes, and they do, but its so rehearsed and executed almost too perfectly.  Is that really a critisism?  It was a great purchase and gets lots of rotation for me, so it is a great release...

6. Invincible
7. One Love
8. Comes Down Like Rain
9. Running From the Heartache
10. Damage Is Done

Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier (August 2010)

Yes, I get to the honor of posting these.  I am sure others would have beaten me to it if it was their NMC turn, but it's not (hahaha).  No words, just listen and enjoy...

11. El Dorado
12. Mother Of Mercy
13. Coming Home
14. Isle of Avalon
15. Starblind

I fixed the mis-labeling of the second number 4 post, so it's now number 5. And I'm really looking forward to hearing these. I have the Asia but really haven't spun it. I just ordered the W.E.T. cd on a previous recommendation from Scott. And I'll be picking up the new Maiden disc today or tomorrow.
You dog! Jumped on Maiden, didn't ya!
Like Flies on... well you know... I had to it was a moral imperative, plus I like trumping you all!!! I didnt get to listen to it all, but I scanned about the first minute of each track and picked. I omitted the title track, a) because it was really long, and b) I didnt want to spoil too much for you all...

But I blasted it in my ears at the gym this evening, freakin' awesome! I heart Maiden...
It's a good thing I reminded you about NMC, right Scott?
Wow! The new Maiden sounds great!!
I like the Asia album, it's a heck of a lot better than "Phoenix" so you've made me want to purchase it. The second track isn't playing for me though?
Ok, and I listened to W.E.T. this weekend and liked it as well. Darker than I thought it would be.

Since I've never heard of Iron Maiden and the album cover looks evil, I will have to pass on that.
