Classic Rock Bottom

from the TSO website:

The entire Trans-Siberian Orchestra family, past and present, is heartbroken to share the devastating news that Paul O’Neill has passed away from chronic illness.

He was our friend and our leader -- a truly creative spirit and an altruistic soul.  This is a profound and indescribable loss for us all.

We ask that you respect Paul’s family’s privacy now.

We will make additional announcements shortly.

Very sad news. RIP.

Sad news indeed.

Every year I would follow their Christmas concert announcements hoping they will come to my city. Never happened. I hope someone else will continue Paul's work, although there aren't many musicians with his vision and delicate sense of blending Rock with Classical music.

R.I.P.

Oh my god, this is such a devastating shock to me.

Paul O'Neill wasn't just the power behind TSO, he's the one who turned Savatage into a force as well. And so many other bands as well. He was responsible for the Badlands debut album and the Metal Church album Hanging In The Balance.

I never even knew he was sick so this news just comes out of the blue.
