A bit difficult for me. It's not really what I usually listen too.
1. Steely Dan (Check the history and success of their catalog, you may not like their style but they are consistently strong and on top of their game)
2. Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company, The Firm, Solo work, often mentioned as the best front man ever, I'd say he's got to be pretty close to the top)
3. Sammy Hagar (Not my personal favorite but if I step back a look at him unbiased I can’t position him anywhere else give the list - Montrose, Solo stuff, Van Halen, Chickenfoot)
4. Joe Walsh (James Gang, Barnstorm, Eagles, Solo work, phenomenal success with each band)
5. Hall and Oates (From a sales and charting standpoint these guys ruled in the late 70's and most of the 80's and if I go back and listen today, they standup well)
6. Pat Benatar (Every girl I knew in High School wanted to look and dress like Pat Benatar, a culture changer and if you look at her discography you sit back and go WOW! She did way more than you think)
7. Heart (Strong debut followed by weak releases, and then resurgence. No one covers a Zeppelin song better)
8. Peter Frampton (Easily the best geetarist on your list)
9. Tommy Shaw (Good songwriter, but only great when Dennis DeYoung and JY mix it up with him)
10. Rod Stewart (Faces work is strong, solo stuff is mellow mellow mellow filled with loads of cover tunes, but if you like the rock and roll side of Stewart he’s great!)

7) Steely Dan

1 - Sammy Hagar - outstanding vocalist, and very enjoyable, energetic front man. He still sings really well, and dont forget, I'm sure he is in his late 50's, early 60's by now.
2 - Tommy Shaw - multi-talented. Outstanding vocalist, decent guitarist...but great songwriter.
3 - Peter Frampton - (Frampton Comes Alive was overplayed back in the day, but still an awesome album)
4 - Paul Rodgers - outstanding vocalist (and I understand he is some kind of judo/karate expert...you DONT want to piss him off....uhhh, sorry Mr. Rodgers I only put you 4th!!)
5 - Heart (still my all time favorite female fronted band)
6 - Rod Stewart (his work with Faces and his early solo stuff get him ranked over the rest for me)
7 - Joe Walsh
8 - Steely Dan
9 - Pat Benatar
10 - Hall and Oates
Plenty of talent in spots 7 through 10 on my list, but I've never been moved to purchase any of their stuff, except for Walsh.
