Classic Rock Bottom

If That Metal Show can do this then we can do this better...  My topic this week is ...

Top 5 Best Front Men of the 70's.

5.  Steven Tyler (Aerosmith)

4. Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company)

3. Freddie Mercury (Queen)

2. Roger Daltrey (The Who)

1. Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin)

I'll start, you chime in, and we tally it up and post THE Definitive list in the next 5-6 days.

Think you can come up with a better list?  Post it!

5. Steve Perry (Journey)

4. Mick Jagger (The Rolling Stones)

3. Steven Tyler (Aerosmith)

2. David Lee Roth (Van Halen)

1. Freddie Mercury (Queen)

Well, first of all, Best Front man means showmanship, right?  Not necessarily vocal ability.  Having said that, here's my picks:

5. Bon Scott

4. Ozzy Osbourne (he may quailify even better in an 80's list)

3. Freddy Mercury (Of course, he'd be on the vocalist list as well)

2. David Lee Roth (He would be number 1 for me if it wasn't for my number 1)

1. Paul Stanley

Wow! What a surprise with your number one pick! I was considering Ozzy too, but thought the same. His solo career didn't start until 1980.

5. Roger Daltrey
4. Freddie Mercury
3. Ian Anderson
2. Davis Lee Roth
1. Mick Jagger (Best front-man EVER!)

For me, I'd say it would be a combination of both showmanship and vocal ability.

I don't care how great a guy is at being the life of the party, if he can't sing worth a damn, who needs him?

How Robert Plant isn't on everyone's list is beyond me.

You got me on that one Tage!  I thought Plant was a slam dunk #1

PS:  Vote and help him out!

I just rate showmanship and vocals separately.  Just my opinion.  My list reflects my opinion and nobody else's.  I'm pretty sure my list is the only one that Paul Stanley will appear on, but that's cool.

And that's the whole reason were doing this.

If it was a top-7, I would have Robert Plant on 6th place, and Paul Stanley on 7th.......but it's not.

5. Roger Daltrey (The Who)

4. Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin)

3. David Bowie

2. Alice Cooper (not the hugest fan, but still...)

1. Freddie Mercury (Queen)

Scott, I need some clarification.  Now that a few folks have chimed in, do we start discussing who should remain or not make the list.  Unfortunately, we can't just hold a conversation like they do on That Metal Show, but do we discuss further on what has been listed so far, or does the author have the sole responsibility of creating thin final list?

Just curious.

Discuss please, and revise your list if someone makes a convincing argument.... My final list is taking all input into account and will spit out a final list that I will post unbiased... Wether. I like it or not. So I'm trying to create a real CRB top 5
