Video's of the week #10

Starting this week, there will be TWO video's in VOTW:

One new (or kind of new, anyway) and one classic (but what's a classic? I've got a classic on my mind from 2002, so there).

This week's "new" video is The Urban Voodoo machine with "Orphant's Lament" from the 2009-album, "Bourbon soaked Gypsy blues bop'n'stroll.

I must admit, that I know NOTHING about this band, but I kind of like the number and the video.

The classic video, is one of my alltime favorite video's, Peter Gabriel with "Shock the Monkey" from 1982.

This is one of those video's that fits perfect with the song.

A bit of history from Wikipedia: It was released as a single and peaked at number 29 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and number 1 on the Billboard Top Tracks chart. The song was Gabriel's first Top 40 hit in the US. In the UK, the song charted at number 58. It was included on Gabriel's fourth self-titled album, issued in the U.S. as Security. As well as its "relentlessly repeated hook" that "sounded nothing like anything else on the radio at the time", the track is known for its popular and somewhat disturbing music video featuring Gabriel (in white face paint) and a frightened-looking macaque.

Both of those videos have some disturbing images in them. I don't have much to say about the first one either way. I don't hate it or love it.

I remember not liking "Shock The Monkey" way back when it was being played 100 times a day. However, now that I'm a little older, I have much more appreciation for it. It's really a good song. I really like the end when he sings "shock the monkey" really high.
