Classic Rock Bottom

The new video this week is a bit special, because it contains some "Growling" (I'm not really sure about the spelling, but I guess you all are used to this by now!!), and I'm to say the least, not a very big fan of "Growling", BUT take a listen to this song, because there IS a good song despite the "Growling".

The band is Solution.45, a "Metal Supergroup" from Sweden and the song is "Gravitational Lensing" from the 2010-album "For Aeons past".

The classic video is W.A.S.P. with "I wanna be somebody". You have probably
seen this video 1000 times, but hey, it's not that easy to find classic video's, that no one has seen.

By the way, it was ranked at #84 in VH1's 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs.

Please enjoy.

I do like the tune, but the growling is way too distracting to me. I have become my father and the musical generation gap is standing at my doorstep. Damn!!!

I remember the WASP video but only a little. Its fun to watch some of these, and this was 100% retro, so I enjoyed watching.

Thanks!
Cool! You're welcome.
Hold on..not growling...Cookie Monster vocals. Get it right.

And does he belch at 1:22?

As for W.A.S.P.? Bought this album, wasn't too impressed, but it does me back to those days!
Sounds like a belch to me...
Love the W.A.S.P.

Once wrote a term paper in high school on the band.
Ok, I have gotta ask...what grade did you get? And what was the topic? I wasn't so lucky, had to write one about Harry Truman and another about Chiang Kai Shek.
I can't remember the grade but it was good.

The topic? Can you say I completely BS'd my way through the whole thing?
Nice!
I agree with Scott that the growling is very distracting. The actual vocals are quite good. I would really like this song if there was no growling. I don't understand why bands do that at all. It reminds me of Five Finger Death Punch, except FFDP's growling is more of a controlled scream, and at least I can understand the vocals. I can't understand a single word of the growling. I just prefer to understand what I'm hearing. I think it's a good pick Niels because it brings us something that's a little different. And the drummer looks like a child (age wise).

I like the W.A.S.P. video. Do you think Blackie and the boys were influenced by Kiss, Cooper and to an extent Motley Crue? (especially Blackie by Gene Simmons, costume and mannerisms). I think this was probably '84, but I'm not sure. The Crue had a couple of albums by then, and I see some influence there. This song is really good, but for me, one of my least favorite on an album full of good music. The one part of the video I remember is after the solo when their individual faces sort of come at you. Another great pick Niels.
There is overuse of CM vocals, but there's also the "right amount" I guess you can say. Check out Opeth, they're there but it's the musicianship you pay most attnetion to, not the vocals. They seem to be more of a background effect in a way.
