ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE 4 ELEMENTS- FIRE PT.4

I am doing the 4 Elements in Song, and this Episode will be just Fire.

That's the Element I am thinking of the most tunes for, perhaps I am a secret Arsonist, lol!

I'll have a much longer album version of a hit you should know, another I haven't played in a long time and yet another I have never played on the Radio.

The usual presentation of Known, Unknown and Forgotten.

Give a listen!

With luck I'll close out the 4 Elements next week!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE 4 ELEMENTS- AIR/FIRE PT.3

Finally a return to the 4 Elements as defined by the 5th Century B.C. philosopher Empedocles, picking up precisely where I left off with Air.

The delay was because things went awry, boy did they- don't ask, lol!

Weeks went by after I spoke and then spoke again.

After Air, I'll move on to Fire.

Beginning with the best song I could think of for Fire, including the Poem that precedes the song and never gets played anymore.

Come to think of it the song itself hardly gets… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: HAPPY HALLOWEEN PT.2

It’s Halloween, the day the show is broadcast terrestrially, hardly ever happens.

Of course it’s not the Day that matters, it’s the Night you have to watch out for!

Some American and British Folklore to begin this closing half.

Donovan wrote Season Of The Witch, and his is my favorite version.

But there are a good half dozen excellent covers of that song.

And I’ll play one I never have before, and you may never have heard before!

Halloween is a good night for… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: HAPPY HALLOWEEN PT.1

It’s one of those rare occasions when Halloween falls on the day of the show.

Witches will be the Theme Within a Theme this year- American and British Songs About Witches!

And a time to ask, what makes a good girl go bad?

Come back for Part Two, unless I am turned into an Ugly Toad, as opposed to the...ahem...Handsome Prince that...ahem...I am now!

I think there's a frog in my throat, lol!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL2-FAVES AND GUILTIES PT.2

I did this second half of the show the next day after the first.

Certainly it didn't affect the Music any, I think it's better than Part One.

So while I may not have felt Pleasurable, I have nothing to feel Guilty about, lol!

And I can't help it, my mind just seems to make Musical Connections on its own.

Join me, it's a nice mix of Hits and Obscurities!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL2-FAVES AND GUILTIES PT.1

Here is an another outing where I play Songs I like just because I want to- no Theme!

I need the rest- the days are rough, lol!

Because Today's Radio plays the same songs to death, I tend to have Favorites that are more obscure than the Hits.

At any rate, Come On In, sit anywhere, and give a listen.

I have some Songs to share with you!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: FREE FORM #2 PT.2

This is Part Two- I didn't feel like writing, so it's essentially the same as last time.

I am going to try it again, just play Songs with no Theme, lol!

My problem is I always think in Connections.

This guy, ME, is attempting to just do a nice Free Form Radio Show, keeping in mind it’s all just Music and just a Rock Show!

Here’s how I selected the Songs- they have a memory for me, they were close by, they should be played somewhere, and I LIKE them.

And on this… Continue

Attempting to just play Songs with no Theme!

My problem is I always think in Connections.

Here’s how I selected the Songs- they have a memory for me, they were close by, they should be played somewhere, and I LIKE them.

And on this particular day, this was where my head was at!

Simple as that!

Join me for a listen to the opening half of Free Form Show #2!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: ITALIAN-AMERICANS IN POP AND ROCK PT.4

The idea arrived with the Nina, the Pinta or the Santa Maria, a celebration of Italian-Americans in Rock & Roll and Popular Music!

In that vein, I'll have more Real Names, beginning with Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco.

Of course, we know him by Another Name, and others will surprise you too!

One guy's father famously turned the Harmonica into a Classical Instrument!

I will play what I consider the Two Best Italian-American Groups- both very successful in the 60's.

And… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: ITALIAN-AMERICANS IN POP AND ROCK PT.3

I trust you had a good Columbus Day, maybe with the day off from work.

And I will continue what I started last week, a celebration of Italian-Americans in Rock & Roll and Popular Music!

Of course that doesn't guarantee that they all could actually SING, lol!

Oh those Philadelphia Teen Idols!

I will have some more Music by Artists you may not have known WERE Italian-Americans!

And we are talking Big Names here!

Give a listen, you know I love the Element Of… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: ITALIAN-AMERICANS IN POP AND ROCK PT.2

It's a celebration of Italian-Americans in Rock & Roll and Popular Music, inspired by the coming Columbus Day.

The opening Chapter was heavy on the Pop, this will have more Rock, as I move through the years- but I play them as I think of them!

And it's no secret I've always been a fan of that Bronx guy, Dion DiMucci.

So I will start with him, but with a twist!

After that, I will have the pleasure and fun of playing Music by Artists you may not have known WERE… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: ITALIAN-AMERICANS IN POP AND ROCK PT.1

This coming Monday is Columbus Day.

And Christopher Columbus is now becoming a villain in some circles, just to annoy me, lol!

But not in this Irish-Italian guy's house- in mine he will be celebrated and a day off will be enjoyed!

And also celebrated in this short Series will be the contributions by Italian-Americans to Rock and Popular Music!

I'll start with some Columbus Hero Worship.

Then I'll go through the years from Pop to Rock & Roll!

Give a listen, the… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE 4 ELEMENTS- EARTH/AIR PT.2

I am doing a trip back to the 4 Elements as defined by the 5th Century B.C. philosopher Empedocles, beginning with Earth.

And the next 3 songs may be a little more familiar to you than those in Part One.

After that we will move on to the next Element- Air, with the Greek God Zeus.

Beginning with the always strange and interesting arrangements of The Incredible String Band.

Followed by 2 Classics you should know, one whose first note supposedly made Eric Clapton say it had… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE 4 ELEMENTS- EARTH PT.1

It is Back To School time.

So I thought I would take you back to those days with something you may or may not remember, The Four Elements!

Defined by the Greek philosopher, scientist and healer Empedocles in the 5th Century B.C., all matter is comprised of these 4 Roots.

He assigned a Greek God or Goddess to each.

Let's start with Earth, and the Goddess Hera, as the first Element.

I will be going deep into the Music Library for this Series.

With even a… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE 60'S POETS- SOCIAL COMMENTARY PT.2

This is the Final Topic for the 60's Poets, Social Commentary, for a Series I started a few years ago, influenced by the early days of Scott Muni on WNEW-FM.

The other Topics in case you forgot were Loneliness, Love, War and Peace and Poverty!

I'll begin with a Song that caused a bit of a stir back in 1967, but was a Hit nonetheless.

Then the Subject selections this time will be Child Neglect, Drugs, Apathy and more!

I hope you enjoyed this Series with songs smartly… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE 60'S POETS- SOCIAL COMMENTARY PT.1

It's been a long while since I played The Poets.

I had chosen 5 Topics for The 60's Poets.

And this is the Final Topic- Social Commentary!

That's a wide range of subjects to choose from, and choose I will.

Among the selections will be a Classic Track Taken From Contemporary Newspaper Articles, Hookers, A Dying Relationship, What Children Say While Playing and a Confidently Scared Expectant Father!

To this impressionable kid, The 60's Poets were spellbinding!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: POST-LABOR DAY PT.2

Let's sing about those of us who avail ourselves of the Time-Honored Tradition of playing the angles at Work!

Something learned over time at all Jobs- how to slack off and skate a little.

Be Lazy when the opportunity presents itself.

We are all guilty, so let's celebrate it in Song, lol!

But there is Pride in what we do at Work, It's Our Job!

And finally, after all the Labor Day Shows, the Last Song!

The one I knew I would end with from the moment I… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: POST-LABOR DAY PT.1

Labor Day has come and gone, but I still have songs to play.

Tightly wound Cranky Times call for Cranky Music.

So Music for people and their driven pursuit of Money.

Some people are defined by the Money they make, I ain't one of them!

Plus Work takes up so much of our time, it detracts and distracts us from the truly important things in Life.

Join me for my take, on Work!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: PRE-LABOR DAY PT.2

The first song here may not be strenuous Work, but may be more difficult than that.

And that made me think of some Hard Jobs- Jobs Nobody Wants To Do, The Dirty Work!

I think laying track for the Railroad qualifies as Hard Work.

So also songs about that, including a genuine Masterpiece.

I invite you to Hammer and Get Hammered with me for Pre-Labor Day, lol!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: PRE-LABOR DAY PT.1

September is coming, and it will be noted in a famous yet very serious tune that is much more than about a month.

After that, Work...that necessary evil!

For Labor Day a lot of real GOOD songs remained unplayed, still sitting in their neat little pile, from the Rat Race shows I did years ago.

And while it's true that 40 Hour Week can make anybody rash and hasty, it can be followed by a "What the hell have I just done?"

Join me, as I go into Labor, lol!
