ROCKOLLECTIONS: DOCTOR VISIT PT.2

Continuing our Musical Doctor Visit, inspired by an angiogram I needed to get, I have to wonder- does Western Union still do Telegrams?

I’ve got Songs about The Doctor.

Also a Minor Rant on the pomposity of the Medical Field.

By the time I was done ranting I Wasn’t Feeling Too Good Myself.

So a Return Visit is called for next week.

See you in the Waiting…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: DOCTOR VISIT PT.1

I had to get an Angiogram- on my leg, there was a blockage in an artery that had to be fixed.

I was In and Out the same day!

But that procedure had a song running around in my head and I’ll start with it.

Never one to let a Theme go by, I’ll begin a new Series for something we all have to do sooner or later, make a Doctor Visit.

No sweat, just a Painless Musical…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: MOTHERS DAY 2017 PT.2

I'll continue with our Salute To Mothers for Mothers Day.

As I talked about last Chapter, more Mamas.

Mama can be used for Mothers or, mostly in song, for a Sweetheart.

Getting out my Poetic License, I will use it for Mothers.

And Crazy Mamas- not dangerous Crazy, fun Crazy!

There's more, and I’ll give the Final Word to David Roth.

Remember that Song I started the show with?

Happy…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: MOTHERS DAY 2017 PT.1

As you should know, this Sunday is Mothers Day.

Some people go for the name Mama, but I am a Mom guy, always have been.

But I’ll have a couple of songs for what Mamas do.

If you are lucky and your Mother is still alive, treasure her!

For I will broach the delicate subject of Mothers Gone- a fertile field for Music, particularly Country.

And after that, if there is some emotional distance…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SPRING PT.8 FINAL

This is it, the Last Chapter of our big look at Spring and some of the things that come with it.

And of course, it would be incomplete without a nod to those Green Thumb Folks who anxiously wait for Spring to get out into their Garden.

After a brief trip back to my Folk Music Roots, an epic Rock & Roll song whose title sounds like Latin but I can assure you it is not.

I took Latin for 3 years...it…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SPRING PT.7

We have established a link between Spring and Love, and I will continue with some of that.

I'll have some Love At First Sight songs for you.

Then the thought that was triggered by the Dusty Springfield song I played...where she mentioned Going To A Dance.

Do people go to Dances anymore?

Used to be a great way to meet members of the opposite sex!

Plus a listen to some Spring…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SPRING PT.6

It's Spring, and to borrow from the poem "Locksley Hall" by Alfred Lord Tennyson, that's when a Young Man's and a Young Woman's Fancy Turns to Thoughts Of Love.

That's the Theme Within A Theme for this episode.

Of course, with Love and anything else, things don't always work out.

Or it can be totally inappropriate, like an uncontrollable urge for a friend's girl- that's a definite no-no!

But for the most part,…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SPRING PT.5

It's a Hormonal Thing- an increase in energy, vitality and sexual appetite.

And it's Spring Fever!

Come on, we've all felt it!

In recognition of Gender Equality, women get it too, and can be the aggressors.

But naturally I come at this from the perspective of a guy- nothing I can do about that.

And in Spring, the Ladies are showing more…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE 60'S POETS- LONELINESS PT.2

Here's more of The 60's Poets, and their Thoughts and Stories About Loneliness.

Again I say, these Songs Read Well Written Down On Paper!

And again I ask you to Please Listen To The Words...The Lyrics!

They are still touching to me.

And I am a Highly Opinionated Guy, lol!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE 60'S POETS- LONELINESS PT.1

It's a good time for The Poets.

I have chosen 5 Topics for The 60's Poets, and I will  over time return to them- for this Maiden Voyage the topic is Loneliness.

This is something Scott Muni used to do in his early years at WNEW-FM.

The 60's Poets were more relevant and understandable than the ones I later learned in school from their time-  the likes of Frost, Keats, Tennyson, etc.

To this…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SPRING PT.4

One of the most noticeable things about Spring is the Sounds of Birds singing again.

As you well know, they migrate South for the Winter.

And the Swallows do indeed Return To Capistrano, all the way back from Argentina.

That's some trip!

So that's what we are dealing with in this Chapter.

Both Artists and Birds Singing- as the Earth brings this Northern Hemisphere back…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SPRING PT.3

Naturally when I recorded this it was 41 degrees and pouring rain.

So expect a beautiful week coming up, lol!

In keeping with the Springtime Daydreaming Laziness of this Chapter, I have little inclination to write.

Just find a comfortable place and position, and I'll do the rest.

You need only listen.

And enjoy...there's some good Music here!…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SPRING PT.2

Well, I start a Series on Spring, and suddenly it starts to feel like it, lol!

I'll begin this episode with a couple of Harmony Songs.

After that, I will go very Old Progressive FM Radio DJ on you, if you were tuning in...oh, say in the early 1970's!

Except for a very small group of people, I may be introducing you to these three songs in a row that deal with our Spring topic.

It's a good example…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SPRING PT.1

It is Spring, although it hasn't felt like it here in New York City.

Spring is the only Season I have never taken a long Musical look at- I have done all the others.

I like Spring, but also have mixed feelings about it, as unfortunately it always brings me to a hot Summer.

I am a Winter guy!

In both Halves of this Beginning show, I have even more of a Mixed Bag of selections than usual.

But…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: HAPPY BIRTHDAY PT.4 END

Well as they say, the Party's Over.

This is it for Birthdays anyway- until I get the itch to do it again someday with different Music.

It's all Good Feelings for this episode.

Happy Birthday Everyone...whenever it is!

Here are the…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: HAPPY BIRTHDAY PT.3

Continuing with our celebration of ALL Birthdays Around The Calendar, I even have a song for those who don't want to be included.

Musical selections include a Happy Birthday that doesn't seem Happy, one that does, a song that captures almost all parts of my growing up by what I saw on TV, and as beautiful an interpretation of a Beatle song as you will ever hear (and remarkably it came out the same year the Beatles version…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: HAPPY BIRTHDAY PT.2

We are celebrating Birthdays, all around the Calendar.

So from me to you, whenever it is, Happy Birthday!

You can put that in the bank and cash it when your Birthday comes around.

This Chapter a Musical look at nostalgia as we move on in years.

That feeling that the best days are behind us, when they may actually lie ahead.

Plus, I have always…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: HAPPY BIRTHDAY PT.1

It is hard to believe that in all these years I have never tackled the subject of Birthdays as a Theme.

Birthdays are fascinating- some people eagerly look forward to them while others dread them.

But the one indisputable fact is that we ALL have them!

Everyday is Someone's Birthday.

So a Celebration of All Birthdays Within the Calendar Year, leaving no one out.

And I hope this is a…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL7- ODDS AND ENDS PT.2

It’s an Odds & Ends Get Together!

A very very loose show, just things that were near and caught my eye.

Let’s go get Stoned with some Songs you should know.

Mostly Sixties Music, but not all.…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL7- ODDS AND ENDS PT.1

Here's one of those every now and then Odds & Ends Shows I like to do- no Theme!

But I do seem to find some connections, lol!

For an Amy’s daughter promise, I’ll start with one of the 2 songs Elvis recorded in his first real recording session at Sun Records Studios.

Because of a very busy week, this is a true Old-Fashioned Free-Form Radio Show- whatever was sitting close to me had a chance to be played.

A…
