ROCKOLLECTIONS: SUMMER 2016- SONGS PT.2

Over the years I’ve played Summertime, that classic Gershwin tune from Porgy & Bess, by quite a number of Rockers.

Billy Stewart, Big Brother & Holding Company, Rick Nelson, and many others.

I found one that was a surprise.

And rather than tell you, I’ll let you guess what Group it is.

You have a legitimate shot at it, as they were very popular!

I had a sudden urge to play some Summer Songs from my favorite…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SUMMER 2016- SONGS PT.1

Doing Summer Shows, there are certain Songs that are expected.

I like the unexpected.

So I will do the unexpected by playing a few of the expected, lol!

Let’s all sing along!

After that, time to get a little more adventurous, and a Song each from the 60’s, 70's and 80’s.

It’s Summer Songs In The Summertime!

As I am doing the Most Ambitious Summer Series Ever Attempted, lol!

Enjoy, I’ll do the work!

Man, I…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SUMMER 2016- HEAT

Starting with a song that has nothing really to do with Summer or Hot, I declare my Poetic License!

Then it’s on to Heat.

Similar to Hot, but to me a subtle difference.

Three or four hours of Heat, and I am calling it a Heatwave, lol!

A Master Of The Obvious, Summer Is Here, and I’ll have a short look back and ahead regarding this Season.

Throughout this Series I’ll be playing Summer Songs you know, don’t know and…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SUMMER 2016- HOT

Alright look out, I have decided to do THE Summer Series to end all Summer Series!

Those who know me realize Summer is regarded as something I have to tolerate and get through to make it to Fall and  Winter, lol!

With that kind of affection, I’ll begin with a Song I used for a Summer Show 10 years ago- it was how I felt then and feel now.

Hot is the word to describe this annoying time of year, and Hot is what I will be…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL.1- ODDS AND ENDS PT.2

That show originally broadcast June 3, 2008 continues and wraps up.

The first show I ever called Odds & Ends, and I thought it was lost.

But as a matter of fact, I had done a similar show a few years before, it was 4 days after Thanksgiving and I called it Post Turkey Leftovers- things that had no real place and I wanted to play.

That's the case here, with an amazing Beatles…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL.1- ODDS AND ENDS PT.1

Here’s a show originally broadcast June 3, 2008.

I thought I had lost it forever, so it has never been replayed before.

It was the first show I ever called Odds & Ends, making it the Lost Vol.1!

But there is a qualifier I will talk about later.

Seemed I had some thing to say and play about Paul McCartney’s divorce from Heather Mills.

And notice that June 3rd…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE 60'S POETS- LONELINESS PT.2

Much more of The 60's Poets, and their Thoughts and Stories About Loneliness.

Again I say, these Songs Read Well Written Down On Paper!

Without the Music or the Arrangements.

And again I ask you to Please Listen To The Words...The Lyrics, of the 60's Poets.

They are still touching to me.

And I am a Highly Opinionated Guy, lol!…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE 60'S POETS- LONELINESS PT.1

Since I played all 2000's Music last week, it seemed like a good time to go back to the 60's for The Poets.

I have chosen 5 Topics for The 60's Poets, and I will randomly over time return to them- for this Maiden Voyage the topic is Loneliness.

This is something Scott Muni used to do in his early years at WNEW-FM.

The 60's Poets were more relevant and…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: PET SOUNDS AT 50 PT.2

The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds is 50 Years Old!

It was released May 16, 1966, and is now regarded as a Concept Album- with Pop, Jazz, Exotica, Classical and Avant Garde Music.

The Beatles answer to it was Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band!

I will recreate the album using inventive Cover Versions by only 21st Century Groups and Artists, with the songs performed in…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: PET SOUNDS AT 50 PT.1

It’s hard to believe, but these things are always hard to believe.

The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds is 50 Years Old!

It was released May 16, 1966, and back then got a lukewarm reception here in the U.S.

Over in England however, it was a smash!…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL2- THE ORIGINALS PT.2

More of Volume 2 of The Originals.

Songs we know well, Originally done by other Solo Artists or Groups.

I can pretty much Guarantee Surprises in here!

A couple were News To ME!

Grand Funk Railroad is in here, but I am not playing the obvious one that comes immediately to mind.

I have my ways, lol!

Have fun with this!…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL2- THE ORIGINALS PT.1

A simple Show this time out, Volume 2 of The Originals.

Many songs we know very well, maybe they were Big Hits.

What is not so well known is they were Originally done by other Solo Artists or Groups.

In fact, that can come as a big surprise!

And sometimes I go the other direction, it's a Two-Way Street.

I like these Shows- they are fun for me, they are…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: 4TH OF JULY PT.2

THIS IS AN ENCORE ORIGINALLY BROADCAST JULY 3, 2012.

Here's a bit of insight into this Rockollections thing- I had a working idea of how I was going to handle this second half, starting with Schooner Fare and their song, We The People...those being the opening words of the U.S. Constitution.

They mention…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: 4TH OF JULY PT.1

THIS IS AN ENCORE ORIGINALLY BROADCAST JULY 3, 2012.

When you hear me say it is America's 236th Birthday, kindly substitute 240th

Celebrating the Declaration Of Independence (my favorite document ever!)- older than me, but I'm pretty damned independent too!

I had long had this idea for an opening set…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE FASHION SHOW PT.8 FINALE

This is it, wrapping up The Rockollections Fashion Show with a pretty bow and my usual flourish, lol!

It was a long journey and I thought we had Musically covered every piece of clothing.

And then it hit me...UNDERWEAR!

It will be duly noted.

After that, the scene is you are waiting for your Wife, Girlfriend, Date, whatever.

She comes out all dolled up and Takes Your Breath Away- She Looks Gorgeous!

I'll play…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE FASHION SHOW PT.7

It’s Week 4 of The Rockollections Fashion Show, which is really only 4 Hours- not much if you consider all we wear.

I’ll begin with some Poetry On Poverty with a Coat!

Although I said No Shoes lat week, I couldn't resist playing one, but they are Boots, so a technicality, lol!

And to…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE FASHION SHOW PT.6

Well we had Pants, here's something I put on first, Shirts.

The Rockollections Fashion Show rolls up it's sleeves and continues with a Musical Look at Shirts this time!

Beginning with a beautiful song about how even Shirts can have Long, Well-Travelled Memories for us.

And watch out for that…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE FASHION SHOW PT.5

The Rockollections Fashion Show rolls on with a Musical Look at Pants, Trousers, Slacks, Jeans, whatever you want to call them.

Even Half Pants, lol!

I can be very mischievous, and I remembered a true story about a song I kept singing while visiting Amish country.

I’ll play it in here, as well as a few…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE FASHION SHOW PT.4

It's back to the Ladies on The Rockollections Fashion Show.

We are all adults here right?

Not all Ladies dress for Fashion, for some...ahem...it's Business!

Or Pleasure!

And there is something about a Woman In Red.

I'll end with a Song about the cheapest way to "Obtain" a Dress, with a certain risk involved.

My Venture Into The Uncharted World Of Fashion will continue next week!

Here…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: THE FASHION SHOW PT.3

This Episode of The Rockollections Fashion Show as promised takes a look at the Men, Well Dressed Men.

Same as with Women, much of it has to do with how you carry yourself.

Yes, I myself have Suits, Sport Jackets, even a Tuxedo.

I just never wear them, lol!

Not the Fashion sort, I prefer Jeans and Sneakers, and I can't even explain how I know the names of Fashion Designers- guess they just crept…
