ROCKOLLECTIONS: SHOW ABOUT NOTHING PT.3

All things considered, Seinfeld was probably the funniest Television show ever.

And I was thinking, it would not have worked in any city other than New York!

Think about that...there's just no way- the apartments, stores, restaurants, streets, movies, etc.

The CHARACTERS are New York!

A few sound bites from the show and more of the Music of…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SHOW ABOUT NOTHING PT.2

It was a great plot device late in the run of Seinfeld to have them pitch a show to NBC about Nothing- making it a show within a show.

And this is another of those Series I had been thinking about for a while.

Running around pulling out songs...Looking For Nothing, lol!

What was going to be Two Parts, will now be Four…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SHOW ABOUT NOTHING PT.1

Alright, admittedly these shows are inspired by the great Seinfeld television program.

There will be some sound bites from it.

One interesting thing, while picking out songs for this show I discovered there are a lot of them written about people who have Nothing To Say.

I'll play some.

Other than that, I have NOTHING more to write!

Think you will…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: A TRIP TO THE FAIR PT.4 END

With all those Castles, Kings, Queens, Bishops and Knights, it makes you think of a Chessboard, doesn't it?

This time at Ye Olde Renaissance Fair we will hear Songs of Battle and a Love Triangle.

And then our Trip To The Fair will end, for we may have stayed Too Long!

Both Halves of this show were Dedicated To The Memory Of My Good Old Friend, Dan Donnelly, FDNY.

We Are All Diminished When A Man Of Honor Passes From…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: A TRIP TO THE FAIR PT.3

Very popular this time of year are those Renaissance Fairs.

So let's go back to a simpler time before computers were dreamed of.

The idyllic Time of Camelot, King Arthur's Court, Merlin's Spells and Knights In Armor.

Pull That Sword Out Of The Stone And Enjoy!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: A TRIP TO THE FAIR PT.2

Continuing our Trip, a first song that has Fair in the title, but is actually a Girl's Name- I felt like playing it, thought you might remember it.

Some Music with meaningful lyrics in here.

And yes, I will finally play the Classic song I copped the Series Title from, lol!

Next week, A Trip To The Fair takes a different…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: A TRIP TO THE FAIR PT.1

No one knows precisely when Fairs started.

They were primarily Commercial in nature, consisting of Agricultural Products and Animals.

They naturally crossed the ocean over here to the Colonies, and we've had them ever since.

You can find one almost any time of year.

The goal here is to Musically bring you All The Fun Of The Fair!…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: HARVEST MOON BALL PT.4 END

Going into this final stretch of the Harvest Moon Ball, it occurred to me that we had done a lot of Dancing, but hadn't paid any attention to those who Won't, Can't, or just plain Don't Want To Dance!

So that calls for a musical acknowledgement of the NON-Dancers!

Plus, and this happens occasionally, I will have TWO endings.

Ending A is satisfactory and makes perfect sense.

Ending B, well I couldn't abandon that…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: HARVEST MOON BALL PT.3

A Rocking start to this chapter of our Harvest Moon Ball.

And the most obvious, anticipated song will finally be played this time out.

Suffice it to say I have Harvested some genuinely good Music that I would like to share with you.

I really like the way this Part Three turned out.

Hope you feel the same way!

ROCKOLLECTIONS: HARVEST MOON BALL PT.2

Opening up this second chapter for our Harvest Moon Ball, a song that has been interpreted by very many artists and in very many ways.

I will play you the original version, a Rocker from 1958.

Then I will play one of those interpretations- as the song is turned from a Rocker into a sultry Song Of Seduction, a remarkable transition.

That will open a set of what I'll call Romantic Seductive Dancing.

Oh by the way, we…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: HARVEST MOON BALL PT.1

This is going to be fun, a Harvest Moon Ball!

The Harvest Moon appears in September, and will in a few days.

And it will be a Super Moon, a Blood Moon, complete with a Lunar Eclipse.

Before the invention of electric lights, for generations farmers knew that full moon as the Harvest Moon because it provided extra light after sunset enabling them to continue their harvesting.

All this is reason enough for…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: END OF SUMMER CRUISE PT.2

Alright, we need Sailors.

That is where I am going in this one.

And when I say Sailor, who is the first one you think of?

A good set about Sailors, and since we had the Wind, I lengthened it even more.

Then a change of pace to an entirely different kind of Seagoing Vessel, with a Button-Down Mind, then the World’s Greatest Group!

Let’s enjoy the salty air against our faces and sail on.

One more thing...don’t…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: END OF SUMMER CRUISE PT.1

I thought I would try something different here, for this last full week of the season- an End Of Summer Cruise, using Music as our proxy means of travel.

Whether the Cruise is on a lake, a river or the ocean- I got you covered.

Although if it is on an ocean, we might be lucky enough for some Whale-Watching!

If you are tight for money and can’t afford a Cruise, or if you don’t have a Boat of your own, well, we can BUILD our…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: POST-LABOR DAY PT.2 END

Let's talk about that fine line between people who do nothing at their Jobs and those of us who avail ourselves of the Time-Honored Tradition of playing the angles at Work!

Something learned over time at all Jobs- how to slack off and skate a little.

Be Lazy when the opportunity presents itself.

We are all guilty, so let's celebrate it in Song, lol!

But there is Pride in what we do at Work, It's Our Job!

And…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: POST-LABOR DAY PT.1

Labor Day has come and gone, but I still have songs to play and things to get off my chest.

Tightly wound Cranky Times call for Cranky Music.

So why not go big with it, take on those 3 overcompensated branches of government!

The Golf Branch, the Do-Nothing Legislative Branch that couldn't agree on what to have for lunch, and the For-Life Judicial Branch that knows better than Merriam-Webster what words…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: PRE-LABOR DAY PT.2

The first song here goofs on the Easiest Work I could ever do.

And that made me think of some Hard Jobs- Jobs Nobody Wants To Do, The Dirty Work!

I think laying track for the Railroad qualifies as Hard Work.

So also songs about that, including a genuine Masterpiece.

I invite you to Hammer and Get Hammered with me for Pre-Labor Day, lol!…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: PRE-LABOR DAY PT.1

September is upon us, and it will be noted in a well-known yet very serious tune that is much more than about a month.

After that, Work...that necessary evil!

Hard to believe all those Rat Race shows started last Labor Day.

And a lot of real GOOD songs remained unplayed, still sitting in their neat little pile.

No repeats in these Pre-Labor Day Outings.

And while it's true that 40 Hour Week can make anybody…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: HOBO CONVENTION PT.2 END

This Annual Hobo Convention in Britt, Iowa concludes, celebrating those Free Spirits!

I'll have Rock, Country, Blues, Jazz, Folk and maybe something else in this concluding chapter.

Including the BEST song ever in my opinion, about the friendship, the brotherhood, in their chosen lifestyle between these mavericks.

And finally, here is a wonderful recipe for their legendary Mulligan Stew:

Take a large bowl, fill it…
