ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL2- NAMEDROPPING PT.3

More Namedropping songs this week for 3 very good reasons.

It was a short week with the Holiday in it, the weather turned hot and humid blocking my brain from a new thought, and most importantly, I am famously lazy, lol!

So rather than start a new pile of Songs, it was easier to stay with the pile I already had.

And one thing is clearly apparent, there is no shortage…

Vin Scelsa Leaves the Airwaves

By Jon Michaud

Just before ten o’clock on Saturday night, Vin Scelsa concluded nearly fifty years on New York’s airwaves by playing Lou Reed’s “Goodnight Ladies,” a suitably bittersweet song with the refrain “It’s a lonely Saturday night,” a sentiment that perfectly summed up how fans of Scelsa’s…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL2- NAMEDROPPING PT.2

There are some Namedropping songs that if you blink- don't pay attention for a moment- you'll miss them.

Others hit you over the head, the Namedropping is even in the title!

That's the case with the opening song in this Chapter, some New Music too, just came out at the end of March.

Then a guy I am a huge fan of, who died a few years ago, known as The Originator, or…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: VOL2- NAMEDROPPING PT.1

I'll begin this Episode with a mischievous false start- I mean come on, I'm a mischievous guy, lol!

Then it's a return to some Namedropping- been well over a year since I last did that.

That's when a song contains a mention in the lyrics of a Musician, a Group, a Movie Star, a Politician...any one or any thing famous and well-known.

The first song is a Roll Call...a Rock…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: ROCKERS IN THE MILITARY PT.2 END

Some History about this coming weekend.

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service.

The Day is not about division.

It is about reconciliation; it is about coming together to honor those who gave their all.

In my attempts to bring you our music in a slightly different way, I thought it might be interesting to give a listen to some- just…

ROCKOLLECTIONS:SPRING AND MATTERS OF THE HEART PT.2 END

I don't know if you noticed, but back when I did this old show from 2006 I think I had more vinyl records than CD's.

It's all Heart songs again, with more wonderful quotes about them.

I will say this, one Eagle led to another, and I played the other Kate & Anna McGarrigle song by Linda Ronstadt among other things.

And I ended with a…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: SPRING AND MATTERS OF THE HEART PT.1

This is an old show from 2006- I was too busy with other work to do a new show this week.

I remember that they wanted me to talk more back in those days, which didn't bother me as long as I could pick any songs I wanted to play without interference.

As it still is!

This show is based the quote, "In the Spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love".

It is from the poem Locksley Hall by Alfred Lord…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: WHISTLING PT.8 CONCLUSION

It's the Final Chapter, and still there were songs left over, lol!

A few more New Century Whistling Songs.

Then some Odds & Ends I knew I'd get around to, and hopefully there are some surprises in here for you.

Beginning with a Song from 1955 that to me sounds like it could have been recorded anytime.

Here's wishing you enjoyed this Musical History Of Whistling In Song Through The Years- naturally I couldn't play…

ROCKOLLECTIONS: WHISTLING PT.7

Alright, maybe I am beating it to death.

But going through the years with Whistling In Songs, I can't very well leave out any decades, can I?

And a strange thing happened in the 90's- Whistling seemed to stop, pretty much disappeared!

But in the New Millennium it made a Comeback.

Whistling Is Alive And Well!

Besides, I want to continue to surprise you with just how many Whistling Songs there are, and how you may…
