My son and I went to see Will Farrell/Mark Wahlberg's new movie "The Other Guys" today. It was pretty funny, not the greatest movie, but a good way for he and myself to spend a couple of hours together. The above song made a couple of appearances in the movie (of course it was the studio version, not the live version) that were quite funny as Will Farrell's character said he always had LRB on hand, that he had 6 discs ready at all times.
Something else I noticed was how much a matinee costs these days. It was 7 US dollars each. Man, it seems like not all that long ago it was 5 or 6 dollars for an evening trip to the theater. Luckily, we had just eaten lunch so we didn't have a need to buy drinks or popcorn, which would have been another 10 to 15 dollars. That's just way too much, especially if your on one of these:
But still, this will have to do the trick for now. But, we are less than 3 weeks away from the start of football season, which carries much more entertainment value for both mine and my son's budget. Don't get me wrong, we love baseball as well, and although I once loved basketball when Bird and Johnson ran the courts, it's my least favorite of the "Big 3". Soon we'll be saying "Go Dawgs" on a weekly basis, but for now we'll watch a little video that touches on all these sports just to get us in the mood.

The main point of this blog post, spend some time with you child or children. I don't get to spend nearly enough with mine, but I'm glad we have movies, football and classic rock to talk about and spend time taking in.
