A SHOW ABOUT NOTHING & SOME COLUMBUS PT.4 END

Moving on with our show about Nothing...I've got Nothing left.
I've got LOADS of Nothing left!
But it's time to wrap this up.
I'll go out with a final bunch of Nothing songs- including going on a Road Trip for some of them, one from my favorite lovable madman, a Steely Dan soundalike by the most unlikely person, and even a critique of this short series.
Then as promised, we'll hear the REAL story of Christopher Columbus, lol!
These episodes were a lot of fun for me, proving what you can do with Rock & Roll when you have no corporate or commercial restrictions.
Hope you enjoyed listening to them!

Here's that necessary link so you can hear Nothing and Something, at WLSO.FM:

RJ,
From the earliest days of free-form FM radio, Motown came along with it.
The music was just too good to ignore, and always had a place.
I'll try to lay off Stevie Wonder for a while and let you get into him on your own, lol!
See now in my mind, wasn't it a bagel store where the workers came off their strike?
And it was so revealingly funny to hear that Kramer once HAD a job, lol!
This time the "Golden Pell" goes to Nothing Is Your Own, and I accept because it was a deliberate pick for Cosmo.
Yes that old Columbus bit was by Flip Wilson, and to me seamlessly went into Ray Charles.
As I get older, I realize how damn good Ray was, and that may happen to you.
It was a fun series for me, and now some rest and getting ready for the next Themes.
Thanks for riding along with me and writing,
Dr. Pell, Renowned Musicologist, lol

Mike,

A trip to Motown isn't necessarily on my bucket list, but hey, it worked pretty good here.  A doulbe dose of Marvin, both nice songs that, although I'm fmiliar with both, I don't think I had ever heard them all the way through.

And more Stevie Wonder.  You just keep pushing me, don't you.  You're gonna be really surprised when I actually purchase some of his work.

Loved the Kramer clip.  The episode that immediately came to mind for me, for no apparent reason, was the one where the workers at the bakery came off their strike, and he walks back into the bakery (or was it an ice cream shop?  I can't remember now) and declares, "I'm back".  Which of course explained why he never had a job on the show to that point.   Classic!

This brings me to the winner of the "Golden Pell".  Michael Martin Murphy (yes, I remember Wildfire very well) with Nothing Is Your Own.  And I don't think it's so much for the quality of the song as it is for the quality of the pick.  A perfect description of Cosmo on your part.  Outstanding!

And I loved the Columbus routine.  I didn't catch whether or not you mentioned who that was, but it sounded like Flip Wilson to me.

Lastly, although I don't listen to Ray Charles very often, it's always nice to hear him sing, especially this song.

Good job Dr. Pell!

I have nothing at all left to say.
