FOR A VALENTINES HANGOVER, A LOOK AT LOVE PT.1

Well Valentine's Day has come and gone, and of course I hope you had a great one.
I myself worked late, lol!
Last week, we tried to get a handle on Love- using songs for what it is, what it can be, etc.
This week, the Valentines Hangover- a NOT all sweetness, flowers and candy musical investigation of the other side of Love- for that faction who wants nothing to do with it, and all others who have been stung by it.
In other words, if you are over the age of 10, you will relate, lol!
Our truthful, yet tongue-firmly-planted-in-cheek (my own!) Look At Love begins anew from a different perspective.
Oh, and as Columbo would say...just one more thing.
Answering my own challenge, I managed to do this entire first half hour with ALL songs that BEGIN with the word "Love"!
What an obsessive I can be, lol!
Enjoy!

RJ,
"Love hurts dude!"
Ouch!!! You ain't just whistling Dixie there, lol!
Yeah that J. Geils was the obvious opener, and I love that Freeze Frame album too- Centerfold, Angel In Blue, etc.
Played those on my Angels series.
Now that's surprising to me, you had only heard the version by Nazareth.
I prefer the Everly Brothers one, but I like all Roy Orbison music.
Since you didn't get to hear all of Roy's, I'll send it to you.
Incidentally, and this wasn't planned, it's free-form as I think of them, the Everlys will be in the next half hour, and in next week's show too, lol!
I was tickled that I thought of the Lou Rawls song, really fit for me.
Love Has No Pride by Linda Ronstadt used to really get to me deep inside, make me tear up, I must be hardening in my old age, lol!
Either that or there are those distracting other things on your mind doing a radio show- what to play next, how much time is left, etc.
It's a different listening experience for me.
But you are right about Ronstadt and the Eagles coming out of California, but Linda was a few years ahead of them- and they actually played backup group on her Silk Purse album before they were famous.
Speaking of what to play next, Love In Vain by the Stones didn't cut it for you, lol!
Well, it's a sentimental favorite for me, I love the whole Let It Bleed album, and the album and that song got a lot of FM airplay back when listening to the radio was my whole life.
Thanks as always my friend for listening and writing, there is more to come,
Mike

Hey Mike, Love hurts dude!  It really does.  Cool show.

Loved the Love Stinks tune by J. Geils Band.  One of their best songs in my opinion, other than the whole album Freeze-Frame.

The Love Hurts song was interesting.  That's the first time I've heard any version other than Nazareth.  While I like Nazareth's best, The Everly Bros. and Roy Orbison's version were neat to listen to.  I think of those two, I'd take Orbison's version, but I didn't get to hear it all.

Lou Rawls is cool in my book.

Love Has No Pride by Linda Ronstadt was a good listen as well.  That really, really sounds like it could be an Eagles song to me.  Of course, if I remember my history some what, the sort or evolved about the same time out in California, right?

The only one that really doesn't work for me is the Rolling Stones "Love In Vain".  It just drags to much for me.

Enjoyed it!
