ROCKOLLECTIONS: 1967 AND THE SUMMER OF LOVE PT.12

Having done that whole show for the 45th Anniversary of Sgt. Pepper, I have been avoiding the Beatles in this 1967 And The Summer Of Lover series.
I cannot any longer, as one of the year's highlights took place June 25, 1967, on LIVE Television.
Anyone who saw it will never forget it!
That is the centerpiece of this chapter.
And virtually all the rest of it will have some sort of a Beatle connection, while keeping within the parameter of the chosen year, 1967.
This is a good episode, with things you may not have heard or even thought of in quite some time- and again, an authentic slice of what we were listening to in that amazing year for Music.
Let's begin by gathering around the Television...on the Radio, lol!

Here are those links to get to Mike Pell Rockollections, you owe it to yourself to listen, lol:

Alright, got it...Surrealistic Pillow!
Have you listened yet?

Your collection is NOT complete, because I am sure I will be saying that about some other album in the future...and MEANING IT, LOL!

Nope, not that album. An album you stated that if you do not have, your collection is not complete. Now my collection is complete!

My guess...Mixed Bag by Richie Havens!

Although if it was 9 or more hours ago, YOU may not remember, lol!

Jon,
Oh, so you ADMIT you DO like my singing...AHA!
I'll send you my Bulgarian Hits album.
You forgot the Vanilla Fudge song in 9 hours?
It normally takes 9 hours to LISTEN to a Vanilla Fudge song, lol!
Funny thing on this one- I am such a huge Richie Havens fan but I have to give the edge to the Fudge.
And did you catch the reference to Strawberry Fields Forever at the end?
Your rambling thoughts are entertaining,
Mike

Both you guys are whacked in the head. I have never said or secretly messaged someone about liking Mr. Pell's singing. Don't know where that came from but if this does not stop, I will have no choice but to put up some TRUE singing from some obscure Bulgarian death metal/polka band. Just push me, guys.

Just

push

me!

I completely forgot about that Vanilla Fudge song. I listen in the morning at work, and then let you and the world (or the 4 of us) my thoughts when I get home about 9 hours later. Most times the stuff that really sticks with me makes it to my rambling thoughts so I guess the Fudge didn't stick? But now that you mentioned it, it wasn't too bad but think that Havens cover was better.

Wonder why that came out twice?

Huh?

Scott,

I was just thinking, "Hey, Mike is avoiding the Beatles for some reason"...

Christ, you are as sarcastic as the Stones, LOL!
So your birthday is June 23rd then, and you were only 2?
Damn, I was on my third marriage, lol!
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Correct, the Vanilla Fudge version was LSD inspired...or heavy doses of quality ganja!
Not only inspired but INSPIRING to many in that department, lol!
That's cool, the Stones getting the Golden Pell.
I thank you, and like I told Jon, a great song when you know the backstory
Speaking of Jon, I KNEW he secretly enjoyed my singing- maybe I should do more, lol
Thanks as always for the listen and writing,

Jonny, Jonny me lad...take a chill pill, lol!
No intention of mocking you, just to make you famous, lol!
What do you think I do?
Have a script or REHEARSE my show?
That would be actual work, lol, and take all the spontaneity out of it.
I wanted to say something about my hearing the released Beatle tune weeks later, with them leaving in Paul's seemingly impromptu inclusion of their old song.
To just say the old lyrics didn't cut it, so I decided that sort of singing them, best got my point across.
Which made me flash on you teasing me about my singing, and so I told the brief story of our corrpondence...ending with my defiant "TOUGH!!!", hehehehehehe!
Glad you liked Richie Havens, I sure do, but I had you pegged for the Fudge better.
Go figure!
And that Rolling Stones song IS damn cool, especially when you know the backstory.
Thanks as always for the listen and writing.
Still friends, lol?
Mike
