ROCKOLLECTIONS: 1967 AND THE SUMMER OF LOVE PT.13

In these waning days of Summer 2012, I realize just how impossible it is to play all the songs I want to in this 1967 AND The Summer Of Love series.
I'll need to re-invent this with a different name in the future, maybe as future-quickly as next week, lol!
In this opening half, something I couldn't ignore, Protest Music...just a couple.
Then, since we did San Francisco, a look at some of the L.A. bands who contributed much to the year's music.
Included, the group Love's masterpeiece!
If you are an old movie lover like I am, the TCM type, the comparison that begs to be made is that 1967 was to Music, what 1939 was to Movies.
Enjoy!

This is a tough one for Golden Pell.   But first, I'm so glad you played Jefferson Starship...I mean Jefferson Aeroplane...I mean Jefferson Airplane.  A show with Jefferson Airplane, the Buffalo Springfield and The Doors must be good, right?

Back to my first statement, I'm torn on the GP.  Maybe it's Mr. Soul by the aforementioned Buffalo Springfield.  Or maybe it's You Set The Scene by somebody whose name I didn't get.  I think I'll go with Mr. Soul.  All very nice songs.

Jon,
Aw...you taking the high road on me?
Leaving me to wallow in my own porn, lol?
I'll keep an eye for the songs, and thanks.
I don't like BS but LOVE The Buffalo Springfield, lol!
And I am proud that I got you interested enough in that group to consider exploring them further.
It is more than interesting, it is what I try to do...and when successful it is sublime!

Yeah, interesting titles but I thought I would give it a rest so as not to offend someone (he's named after swine).

Yeah, of course I have the song. Check your email this weekend, still owe you one other.

I'm going to get me some BS, I've heard them many times before but never figured that I liked them until I listened to your show. Interesting, huh?

Jon,
Well there were two Love songs, and both were highlights of the show for me.
I haven't heard UFO do Love, you got it?
I certainly will stay tuned for the JA album, I could have sworn I had it.
That's right, the County Joe song was done live at Woodstock, but of course that was 1969- interesting to hear the studio version eh, with the sound effects at the end?
Man it took me a while to figure out what the hell you meant by BS songs!
My first reaction to BS is not a good one- I thought maybe I had talked too much, lol!
Especially when you mentioned shovels.
I am a huge fan of Buffalo Springfield...one of those bands from back when, like I said, we felt like a small and unique group of listeners.
Aside from that one hit, they were kind of a secret!
Glad you enjoyed this one, and my lack of singing was purely an accident- the situation just didn't present itself.
Hey, I had some good movie titles at those other comments regarding my OTHER career, didn't I, lol?
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

Man, forgot about the Love song! Excellent song, have you heard UFO's version? It really pays nice homage.

i really liked this. That JA album will be getting a post in the very near future, so stay tuned (if you want).

That County Joe song, I've heard it live and only live. Woodstock?

And what was this with two BS songs in a row? You trying to overload us with BS or something? Do we need to get out the shovels to scoop up the BS?

This is one of my favorite shows, probably because you didn't sing! And the music was great!
