ROCKOLLECTIONS: APRIL SHOWERS- LET IT RAIN PT.2

I was thinking during the break about that somewhat lame Rain sound effect I used in the first half.
That got me to thinking about songs that have the Sound Of Rain in them.
And what was the first one I remember hearing?
I should have done this during the Academy Awards, lol!
So in this episode I will present, and it's just my opinion, the Award For Best Song That Contains Rain Sound Effects!
A sort of Golden Pell!
What would be your favorite, or do you agree with me?
Have a listen and find out.

Here's the dry link to the wet second half of the show, at WLSO.FM:

If so, he may not come close enough for an interview, lol!

That's a great idea, hahahahaha!
Wonder if he'd remember me?

That is classic. You should do an interview with him and see if he remembers. Sing him the questions!

Jon,
Oh I was SINGING the songs alright!
I gotta think he thought I was nuts.
I hadn't talked to anyone at the party, so all my crazed energy came gushing out...I mean these songs flew out of me with a nanosecond in between them, LOL!
Actually, I didn't ask him a lot of stuff- just "are you Joe Jackson?"
And BANG...right into my singing...to which he replied NO when I was done, lol!
True story!

That is funny! And you're still sticking with the first story, eh? But then again, I would be scared and deny everything if you were to corner me and ask me a ton of stuff.

But then again, if you were SINGING the songs, then yeah, that makes perfect sense.

Jon,
Yes, get back to me on that songs with rain sound effects.
You'll have plenty of time, lol!
There will be a 3rd & 4th show- so four more parts, not counting the new one here- but with an interruption between 3 & 4.
I've always liked Joe Jackson and his many types of music.
Gotta tell you this story- I was seeing a woman who is a fashion designer, and I was at this party with her.
She was working the room, so I went off on my own to mingle a bit with all these strangers, fashion types who are not necessarily my kind of people.
And I see a guy who looks familiar, but older, grayer and with less hair...but man, he looks familiar.
Then I think...hey that's Joe Jackson!
So I go over to him, and I ask him, "Are you Joe Jackson, they guy who sang...?", and I launch immediately into a crazed medley of songs beginning with Radio, Kinda Kute, It's Different For Girls, etc.
I mean I am singing every Joe Jackson song I can think of...in this short span of time.
When I am done, he says "NO!".
After the party, when he had gone, I tell the woman what happened, and she tells me that was him alright- she had made clothes for him.
We laughed our asses off!
I had possibly scared the crap out of him with my manic performance, lol!
And I was SOBER!
Either that or Joe is a snob and wanted nothing to do with a fan like me.
I prefer the first, lol!
She still tells that story, as do I, and we still think it is hilarious!

I don't know who my choice would be for best rain effect actually. Thinking of songs with the sound of rain is a bit hard, only a couple come to mind. This is a good one, I'll get back to you whenever I feel the need.

Rainnnnnnnnn....suprised you didn't play "It's Raining Again" by Supertramp. Oh wait, THERE'S A THIRD SHOW!!!

Don't see how anyone can dislike Joe Jackson, the guy is all over the board with his music (punk, new wave, big band, soundtracks, jazz plus probably a bunch more).

Jon,
The Doors wouldn't be your choice for best sound effects?
I will be playing more songs with those sounds, so you may find your pick.
And apparently I underestimated people's openness to hearing new things by Joe Jackson, as I mentioned to Scott.
And remind me to do a whole show on Blind Melon.
Wouldn't that just be the BESTEST?
You are one funny guy, LOL!
Thanks for your always dependable laugh,
Mike

Scott,
Yeah, April has been dry here, and we didn't even HAVE a Winter this year
The Doors were a thought before I even began, just wasn't sure where I would slot them.
The Golden Pell to Joe Jackson is a good thing, since I wasn't sure about playing that one.
I figured nobody had ever heard it before, but then that has never stopped me, lol!
The Johnny Rivers and Dee Clark were fun to hear, the Cascades too.
And a long time since I played or heard that closer, what excellent taste we have, lol!
Thanks for listening, and it's always nice when people take the time to write.
Every now and then, I have to emphasize how much I appreciate that, since I know people are busy.
And the nice series remark doesn't hurt either, lol,
Mike
