ROCKOLLECTIONS: APRIL SHOWERS- LET IT RAIN PT.4

Before anything else, let's all remember Dick Clark.
He did a lot for Rock & Roll and always seemed like a decent guy to me.
This show will note his passing as soon as I get the opportunity.
Continuing with our April Showers series, I'll get a little serious regarding Farmers.
Too little Rain or too much Rain and you are in a world of hurt, it's a tricky balance.
Don't make enough money, you might lose your farm!
After that, a lighter touch as we lay back and groove while it rains and we dream.
Plus there is no finer time for romance (or even more if you handle it right, and find a willing partner) than a Rainy Day...well maybe a Snowy Day...but we get more Rainy ones, lol!
And I'll have one of my very favorite Rain songs from the brilliant wordsmith John Sebastian with the Lovin' Spoonful.
Sweet, happy, and saying so much in its brief simplicity- right up Sebastian's alley.
Lastly, I want to let you know that Sunday, April 22nd is April Showers Day!
As the sign above says, enjoy the Day- I'm doing my part, lol!
The Showers and Rain will continue next week.

No Jon, I quit drinking 17 years ago, so that's not it, lol!

And I don't have Aliens at my fingertips.

Maybe I can catch something at Youtube.

You haven't ruined it...yet, lol!

No Ripley! Mike! C'mon! Lay down that bottle, clear your mind and watch Aliens again!

It's the little girl. Great, now I ruined it. Go back to your drinking!

RJ,
Not quite caught up, just when you think you are, PRESTO!, another half a show, lol!
No surprise we both like Rain On The Scarecrow, and that snare drum that drives it.
A little surprising about you not knowing the Jimi Hendrix songs, and the guitar...well it's HENDRIX!
And classic Hendrix.
I love the Rascals song, and it called out to me to placed in the middle of those two.
The Golden Pell to Steve Earle is an excellent choice.
But knowing me as you do, I probably would have gone with that Sebastian guy who held the ladder, lol!
And the Rascals were worthy of consideration too, not to mention Hendrix.
Man, you had quite a choice in that chapter, lol!
Thanks for the listen, writing, almost catching up, and the Pell.

Jon,
Seems like I got RJ to like Steve Earle now too!
Yeah, the brilliant piano segueway, mean and rotten...I am truly underappreciated!
I was the only one who noticed it!
Of course I planned it though, lol!
They mostly come out at night.
Aliens...that's Sigourney Weave as Ripley right?
I saw them all, but I don't remember that reference.
Must have been when I was drinking.
Thanks for the attempted help, lol,
Mike

I'm finally caught back up.

Rain On The Scarecrow is a fine song.  One of my favorites by Mellencamp, and definitely from my favorite album.  The lyrics are heart-wrenching, and just listen to that snare drum that drives the song.

The Jimi Hendrix songs were new to me.  They were really cool, especially the guitar playing (go figure).  But I really like how you inserted the song by The Rascals between the two Hendrix songs.  I thought I was hearing the same song again at first, then I thought, was that Hendrix in the middle?  No way.  Anyway, very cool bro.

And the Golden Pell goes to........................Steve Earle for The Rain Came Down.  Man, that's a cool song.  I know nothing about Earle.  Great pick for this show.

Let me see what I can find today on Steve Earle and will let you know.

That's a shame about the piano segueway...only you noticed it!

That was just mean and rotten. I know, I know, I know.

As for they mostly come out at night...mostly. Watch Aliens, you'll see where I stole that from.

Jon,
I do my best thinking in the shower, actually the entire bathroom, lol!
You want that Steve Earle song or another you may lie?
Actually those are two Hendrix songs on the album that are split up.
I just had the idea to put the Rascals in between.
Cutting the grass in the rain is liberating...very interesting!
They mostly come at night...mostly?
Lie down on the couch and tell me all about it, lol!
Another talent of mine.
Jeez, it's NIGHT!!!
You know, I just thought of something no one mentioned.
Way back in Part Two I was so proud of how I segued the piano ending of Joe Jackson into the piano beginning of Neil Sedaka.
I'm just saying...!
Thanks for listening (at least twice!), writing, and being your crazed self, lol,
Mike

Got the rest! I still need some more Steve Earle. I have never heard that Hendrix song before, really cool stuff, especially how you split it up. All in all, another dandy list.

Hey, I just cut the grass in the rain. It was kinda liberating. And wet. But liberating, mostly.

Did you know that they mostly come at night...mostly.

Wait....John Cougar Mellencamp! I listened to that album earlier this week, so should have remembered that at the very least. I was taking a shower when I remembered that song (shower/rain). Interesting, isn't it?

And the rest...well. No. Still can't remember.
