Classic Rock Bottom

This episode will close out our Songs For Autumn.
There is something about The Fall Season that lends itself to a certain melancholy, a wistfulness, as the days get shorter and the nights colder.
Suggested listening time is a cold night.
But I am greatly pleased ANY time you listen, lol!
I'll play the BEST song ever written about Autumn and the coming of Winter, pure poetry in my humble opinion.
And I'll give the final word to the guy who has written and recorded more songs about Autumn than ANY other artist...it's non-negotiable!
What it always comes down to is this- I hope you like what you hear, and I enjoyed playing what I did!

RJ,
The Young song always reminds me of a girlfriend.
There was a piano segue, one to the other, not sure anyone noticed.
That Tom Rush version of Urge For Going is the BEST!
It's poetry, how about "when the sun turns traitor cold", or "shivering trees are standing in a naked row"!
Good call, it is something Gordon Lightfoot would sing.
Van's is a long song, but live with it a few years and it's just right, lol!
Golden Pell deservedly to Tom Rush for the greatest song ever about Autumn- even though written by Joni Mitchell from cold Canada so she knew the territory.
Here's what a guy wrote me about it, and I feel the same way as he does.
Tom's was the first version we'd ever heard.
We played most every song on that iconic LP.
Tom's album will always be amongst those to which I turn when I want to imagine I'm still 16 ;)
Thanks for listening and writing,
Mike

Jon,
So you heard a spaceship in the background on Harvest Moon, lol?
That imagination is what makes you such a good writer.
Oh I have the flamethrower, no nuke yet!
That Madeline Peyroux song is great isn't it?
And sounds like Autumn to me.
Didn't mean to depress you, and that last tree has become an obsession with me.
I am having dreams about it, lol!
It's playing with your mind Jon, and mine too!
Have they fallen yet???
I COULD come over and kick the leaves into the neighbor's yard.
But now that I know you have a machine, you don't need me you rake, lol!
Thanks for listening and writing,
Mike
