ROCKOLLECTIONS: BACK TO THE RAT RACE PT.1

You know, I never did end the Rat Race Series.
So after months of flippant diversion and neglect on my part, we go back to the Rat Race to earn some money for Christmas Gifts and all the other things that go with the Holidays.
It's all about Working For Wages and the Working Man this time out.
I made some interesting selections for both halves of this show.
Included in this opening half, a couple of undisputed Classics.
Here's hoping you enjoy my inspired or quirky (your call, lol) Musical choices!
Again, it's not the same old same old.

RJ,
The Van Morrison song goes way back, but not as far as CCR to 1968.
They are both great, and CCR guitar work was always killer.
And the lyric that grabbed me too was "born on a Sunday, by Thursday I had me a job"!
I missed that Fischer-Z song as well, and was surprised the group is pronounced Fisherzead.
Group is clearly British as they mention Waterloo Station as one of the stops,
The Golden Pell is deservedly awarded to the Butterfield Blues Band.
That is a brilliant piece of Music called Work Song!
The guitar work is by Mike Bloomfield and Elvin Bishop, with Butterfield on blues harmonics and 2 other members of what was a fantastic group so early in the age of Progressive Rock!
Everything about it is awesome and a great pick on your part too.
I gotta play the album title track someday, East-West.
Thanks for the listen and writing bro,
Mike

Jon,
What, better than the Beatles, lol?
I am honored that your next next L/F album post and that for the first time EVER, it will kind of tie-in to my show.
It's beyond interesting but what the hell took you so long, lol?
If you've posted it I don't see the commection though, maybe you haven't yet.
Honestly the Fischer-Z song was new to me too, heard it maybe in the last year and liked it, filed it away in my head.
Hahahahahaha, that yard work story should be a movie.
When you first mentioned $9 I thought you meant an hour- not bad.
It appears it was $9 a DAY- talk about selling yourself short, lol!
Do we have cicadas in Brooklyn?
I hope not!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

Back to the Rat Race, huh?  Okay, that's cool with me.

That Van Morrison song was quite funky.  And the CCR song is just killer.  I've heard it but not really paid it any attention.  But the guitar is just killer.  And how 'bout this for a lyric, "born on a Sunday, by Thursday I had me a job).  So cool.

Fisherzead?  Couldn't understand what you were saying there.  The Worker was a little Reggae, which I'm not a fan of, but this was cool.

Sam Cooke is always cool, but the Golden Pell is being awarded to the Butterfield Blues Band.  Didn't get the name of the song but the guitar playing is so awesome.  Great pick.

Ahhhhhhh.....this is better. Something about these "Rat Race" shows makes me happy and makes me likey. Plus, it gave me an idea for my next L/F album post and, for the first time EVER, it will kind of tie-in to your show. Isn't that interesting? Aren't you wondering what I have planned now?

I did like all the songs but the one that really stood out was the Fischer-Z song. It sounds like a song I would have heard on the radio during the summer while I was doing yard work at someone's house. Me and my little radio, weeding or clearing out brush. I was so cool around that time that one of my jobs was cutting grass at a house with a REALLY BIG yard and when they asked how much I charges, I said $9 because that sounded really good and they thought it was really good and then I found out I was stupid AND cheap and that's why they liked the $9 price. It would take me at least half a day to cut this vast expanse of lawn, but they did have a riding mower, but the riding mower never worked and I had to using a walking mower which really sucked and in the backyard there was a huge tree and I noticed things growing from the tree and when I looked close I saw they were larva and when they hatched they turned into cicadas and it really freaked me out.

Something like that.
