ROCKOLLECTIONS: BOND...JAMES BOND PT.1

It seems like the James Bond Movies have been around forever- we know Diamonds Are, lol!

And the Songs that go with them.

I'll start with the first one and go from there.

Trying to fit in as many as I can in the two halves of the show, I will have to skip a few from the flicks.

Those early Bond Movies were not too Rock-friendly, as you will hear.

But smart businessmen run the Film Industry, and that soon changed.

Unless you are a Bond freak, there are some forgotten ones in here.

I KNEW it...I was just waiting...it figures...if Jon is a James Bond freak, you wouldn't like the movies, lol!

Truthfully, well truthfully to me, the music will take a quality dip as the years go on in the 2nd half of the show.

I have to wonder if that Man With The Golden Gun is tongue-in-cheek, but there is a tongue somewhere in there, lol!

Shirley Bassey is right, but it's Matt Monro- ah, why do I pester you with those things, lol?

And for something different, it's a Classic Pell...ALRIGHT!!!

Plus another three-way tie.

The first two and Goldfinger are my faves in the chapter.

And man, did I...DO I...have the hots for Sheena Easton!

I could look at her all day...and night, lol!

No kidding, you've only seen one from beginning to end?

We all have our quirks don't we?

I believe the only artist who sang the theme that appears in a Bond film is Madonna, who had a small role in "Die Another Day". Since Sheena was only in the opening credits, she don't count (sadly).

Yes I mentioned some of those facts...me smart!

I read OHMSS too, and it is one of my favorites- Bond suffering from loss.

You don't have to wonder why Sheena Easton is in the movie- she's another who has an open invitation to my house, lol!

I like this, it's clever, "no matter if they're rock or not. That's how I roll!"

THIS IS THE BEST PROGRAM EVER? No it's not- I am using my Licence (British spelling) To Kill...Time!

But if I had known November is Bond month for you I would have waited, lol!

By the way, why November?

Man you have some video collection there.

Personally, I've never been much of a James Bond fan.  I can take it or leave it.  But I do think the music is cool, even the older non-rock stuff.

Everything here was good.  My first thought on that Man With The Golden Gun song was that it's totally tongue-in-cheek.  I think the Shirley Bassey (spelling?) songs are very good.  And I liked that Matt Munroe song From Russia With Love.

But instead of a Golden Pell this week, I'll give a Classic Pell.  And it's a three-way tie, for Live And Let Die, Nobody Does It Better and For Your Eyes Only.  The latter because she was way hot and it's the only movie I saw at the theater, and probably the only one I've seen from beginning to end.

Of course, there's this:

Trivia: Shirley Bassey sang the most JB title songs, "Goldfinger", "Diamonds Are Forever" and "Moonraker".

"We Have All The Time In The World" was not played during the opening credits of OHMSS, but was used later in the movie. Underrated movie, follows the book very closely plus it's the only movie in which JB is married, which is why he visits the cemetery at the beginning of "For Your Eyes Only".

One of the very first albums I bought was the soundtrack of "The Spy Who Loved Me" which had a disco-fied version of the James Bond theme. That was the first ever Bond movie I saw in a theater and I was immediately hooked. 

Sheena Easton was the first (and only) artist to have appeared in the opening credits. Wonder why?

I just love the James Bond songs, no matter if they're rock or not. That's how I roll!

THIS IS THE BEST PROGRAM EVER! Now, if you did it in November, that would have been extra special. November is Bond month for me, I watch a ton of Bond during the month. I actuall bought the Bond 50 blu-ray set last year, then bought all the single releases, plus have two different sets on DVD and a VHS set. Does this make me a fan?
