For some reason when you mentioned Lucifer, I immediately thought of Coven.
This thing was a nightmare. I'm tellin' you. But I loved going up there. Both my Aunt and Uncle are both passed on now, but their daughter and her husband still live there. Back then, their house was tiny. Maybe 3 rooms at the most. And one of those rooms my Uncle (he was a professional fisherman, fished for catfish) used one of the rooms as a bait room. It was full of grub worms. Just a wild place. Even had the one and only coo-coo clock I've ever seen in my life.
See? I was right about Georgia!
Yeah, I did use one many, many years ago. Forget where it was, could have been at a campground, but maybe that's considered a porta-potty.
Truth be told, this show was a little slow to start, what with the outhouse thing and the Jim Stafford thing. Have you (or Jon for that matter) ever even used an outhouse (I'm not talking about a port-a-potty)? I'm talking about a real, functioning full-time outhouse. I, being from Georgia and all, had and Aunt and Uncle whose only toilet was an outhouse. They lived at the lake. And although I used it, I was pretty scared of it, because it was usually dark when I had to go. And it was a good 20 yards from the house. And you always had to dodge this huge hole in the ground that only had a piece of plywood over it, and that sheet of plywood never covered the whole hole. Anyway, for a small child it was a nightmare.
I hadn't heard that Farren Young song in a long time, so that picked me right back up.
Those four closing songs have to be the saddest four songs in a row you have ever played. There's another theme, nothing but tear jerkers. Anyway, I really liked all four of them. And I can't make up my mind which one I liked best. I think maybe the one about putting the house on the market every Wednesday morning. Who did you say that was by, either Peter, Paul and Mary or John Sebastian? That's the one that wins the Golden Pell. I wouldn't mind having those four songs if you get some time, no hurry.
Oh yeah, the song by Lucifer was great too. Kind of reminded me of Grace Slick maybe. And one staple today, John Sebastian.
Jim Stafford was on serious drugs when he wrote that song. A talking cat that barricaded him in a room? Really?
"Hello Walls"....heard this before but by someone else. Someone country. Someone else country. Johnny Cash maybe?
Buddy Banks was cool, Baby Davis was the vocalist. You didn't know that??!!
The next two songs were thoroughly depressing and they made me cry. The first one because I didn't like it much, the second because it was too damn depressing. What was interesting was that they blended into each other quite nicely, doesn't seem like two different songs but one really long one.
Oh wait...it's still depressing.
Lucifer! Yes!
And Frank...what can I say? IT'S FRANK!
The last 4 songs made me want to go to the garage close all the doors and start the car. Gee, thanks?
Seriously? People really requested an outhouse song? What part of the country were they from, I wonder. Georgia, maybe?
There are no birthdays today
