ROCKOLLECTIONS: BUILDING A HOUSE WITH SONG- MIXED BAG

While I was listening to the songs I was playing in the first half hour of this show, I thought of a couple of Oldies that might also fit that mini-topic.
So at the break, I ran over and picked out a couple.
They may not be Poets, but they could get their point across.
And always Respect The Old, just as you should Embrace the New!
Oldies to me by the way, are songs made before 1964, or pre-Beatles & British Invasion.
Once that occurred, the Sound Of Music in America changed.
Some think for the better, some still think for the worse, lol!
Getting out of the Funk Of Loneliness, and realizing that House We Built Can Be Anything We Want, I'll rock it up with some Strange Dwellings.
This will indeed be a Mixed Bag of Music!
The Finale next week.
In the meantime, enjoy!

Mike, did you know that Willie Nile has a new album out today?

Here's a link: Willie Nile - American Ride

RJ,
I can like the sad stuff too, especially when it relates to something in my life.
And you can definitely call those first two  Doo-Wop.
After that, they may be ALMOST novelty songs but don't quite get there.
Sort of unusual songs.
And the one by Willie Nile I thought was the best, and was very sure YOU would think so too, lol!
I was wondering if anyone at the radio station would catch what Willie said John Lee Hooker was gonna do.
Nobody said anything.
You really dug those versions of This Old House by Rosemary Clooney and Brian Setzer eh?
That I wasn't so sure of, lol!
You'd really like Cheap Trick to cover that song?
Odd, I've been listening to that 4-CD box by them, and I think they could do it...be fun to hear it live!
The Golden Pell to a SET, I think that's the 2nd time isn't it?
The "This Old House" block, all 3 songs!
That is VERY cool, and I accept on behlf on my working miind, lol!
And that song would have been perfect for the TV show "This Old House".
Especially the Clooney.
Wonder why they didn't?
Oh and I knew you meant that one, not the CSN&Y one.
Thanks for the listen and writing, and great comments,
Mike

Hey, I like the sad stuff.  Those first two finished it out (the sad stuff), but that's okay, the happy stuff was cool too.  Actually, the last 3 songs were sort of sad too, if you think about it.  I call those first two Doo-Wop music, and I'm glad you played 'em.

The next 3 tunes were almost novelty songs, don't you think?  That one by Willie Nile, House Of A Thousand Guitars, was the best of those three, but more on that later.

The first two versions of This Old House (Rosemary Clooney and Brian Setzer) were both out of this world.  Different, but the same.  Tons of energy.  That is a fantastic song.  And the CSN&Y song of the same name was just as good.  I just don't know who to give the Golden Pell to.  That House Of A Thousand Guitars is in there too, especially due to the lyrics.  I really like what he said John Lee Hooker was gonna do.  And this may sound strange to you, but I'd love to hear Cheap Trick cover that song.  I guarantee you it would be killer.

Ah, I just don't know.

I'm gonna give it to the "This Old House" block.  All 3 songs.  I can't believe someone didn't peg that song as the theme song for the show "This Old House".  It would be perfect.

Best show on this subject to date bro.

Jon,
Oh man, you were lost for a long time.
Yes I thought the followup with Brian Setzer might work, and ending it with CSN&Y was the icing on the cake.
See, it's a THINKING man's show, lol!
Lost you for the middle, even with Traffic & Willie Nile?
Must be a  depression carryover!
You need a full beer can, not an empty one, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

This started off nicely and then I got lost and couldn't find myself until, believe it or not, Rosemary Clooney!

Nice song and then to followup with Brian Setzer? Double the pleasure, double the fun! And then to end it with CSN&Y was nice, I have this album on cassette and finally picked it up really cheap on CD a few weeks ago.

I dunno about the middle section though, I just wasn't into it. Maybe it's the same depression carrying over from yesterday?
