ROCKOLLECTIONS: CHRISTMAS PARTY 2012 PT.1

It should be no surprise that the Annual Rockollections Christmas Party is here again.
I played it back a few days after recording it, and I have to say it is one of the strangest I have ever done, lol!
It seems as if the Party was taken over by someone else...and the prime suspect is Santa Claus!
I went deep into my Music Library and came out with quite a few things I am sure you will not hear on any conventional Radio Stations.
The key question here being...is that a GOOD thing, lol?
Over the years certain Traditions have evolved on these shows, and I will have the usual ones you may have come to expect.
Including a very interesting Beatle Smashup sent to me by my old pal Mike.
One indication of how I was feeling doing this opening half of the Free-Form Christmas Party was that I didn't want to stop for the break- I was completely immersed in the Music and considered it an intrusion on my presentation!
Give a listen to Part One and see if I was naughty or nice or just in another dimension, lol!

RJ,
Hahahahaha...nothing was even worth a Golden Pell for this show!
Guess I went a little too DEEP into the libray, lol!
Well I told you it would be a strange one.
I never really know when I sit down what's gonna happen, and there are the usual clunkers.
But also usually, for every song somebody doesn't like, someone else does.
I sure that is the case with the long Beatles Mashup for example.
Man, I wish I could say Part Two will be different...well it WILL be different- but I was still weird with it, picking songs I thought people should hear.
Hopefully you will like it better!
Thanks for the listen and writing,
Mike

Well, it was bound to happen.  More on that in a moment.

I have to say that last years Christmas show was great.  I have no doubt that this year's show will be too, but I can't say I really liked the choices for part one.  Except the Petty song, which I have heard, and I still thought it was Bob Dylan for some reason.

Now, to complete my opening statement, I am not giving a Golden Pell for this show.  I can't give it to Petty 'cause I've heard that song, and as you know, the GP is reserved for "new" songs to me.  And nothing else really moved me.  So no GP.

I liked the beginning of the Beatles mashup, but it kinda went on too long for me.  But you know me, I'm still looking forward to part two.

Jon,
Hey Mr. Happy, I am not ashamed to say I LIKE Norman Rockwell, lol!
A banner year with a carton of cigarettes?
Well that sucks!
Think I detect some sarcasm:

Yeah, those were GOOD times

Christmas has a strange effect on people.
In recent years I find myself waiting for somebody to die, because it has happened often enough to me.
But the season is still full of good cheer and great memories.
All things considered, Christmas is good.
What the hell did I play that made you think of that carton of cigarettes?
Hang with me Jon, we'll have a good time,
Mike

Parts of this made me feel like I was in a Norman Rockwell Xmas painting while others brought up really bad memories about Xmas. I remember one year and oh, it was a banner year at the old Jonster family. I got a carton of cigarettes. The old man grabbed me and said, "Hey, smoke up Johnny."

Yeah, those were GOOD times.
