ROCKOLLECTIONS: CHRISTMAS PARTY 2013 PT.1

When I started to do this show, it occurred to me now in 2013, that it was at Christmastime in 2009 when I launched the official name change to Rockollections, complete with a new theme song.
I was never happy with that old name Rock Lives, and I wasn’t the one who picked it.
Nothing else changed- even to this day I am the same guy, and have continued to play my somewhat eclectic choices of Music.
Within that whimsical framework, I always try to play the different Christmas songs, the ones you don’t hear on predictable Radio.
In short, here’s what I have for you.
A pretty damn good opening set of Rock & Roll, mixing in some non-Christmas songs as I usually do.
After that, my choice for the BEST NEW Christmas song I have heard this year.
I'll play it, and it really is new from this year.
Got some other new ones too coming up.
But as I've said before, my feeling is that anything I have never heard before is NEW to ME!
That should be the way we all look at it, it's only Music.
Included in this opening Chapter is a Mike Pell Moment Of Clarity!
So let’s get this party started.
Pick a seat and help yourself to whatever you like…you’re my guest!
Mainly, I hope you enjoy the Music Of Christmas.

RJ,
The songs you liked were pretty much all of them.
How about El Vez's smoking version of Feliz Navidad, that rocks!
I never thought that Elvis song was way too long until you mentioned it.
I'm still not sure, lol!
In fact, I wasn't sure about this 1st half either- thought it might be too weird.
But after I played it back I liked it!
And Little Drummer Boy roll...The Golden Pell goes to the song I picked as the BEST NEW song I heard- Everything's Changed At Christmas But You by Drew Holcomb And The Neighbors!!!!
My thoughts exactly, lol!
Seriously, it is very touching and not hard for me to imagine how a parent in that situation would feel.
Oh hey, did you ever listen to the Odds & Ends Pt.2?
You don't have to write, just give a thumbs up...or God forbid, a down, lol!
Thanks for the listen and writing with your excellent taste in music, lol,
Mike

Jon,
Those were the Puppini Sisters- not related, but chose the name so it makes you think of the The Andrews Sisters.
Being from the Comeback Special I don't believe those screams for Elvis are fake.
That best new Christmas xong could be depressing, but it depends on your pesrspective.
And you CAN'T change... for Christmas or otherwise, lol!
Calm down, they ate the squirrel!
But you didn't, going on to rant:

SANTA CLAUS DOES NOT EXIST AND YOU CANNOT KILL SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT EXIST?

But the worst, the burn in hell moment was this:

HEY, KIDS: SANTA ISN'T REAL!

Truly, you ruined millions and millions of dreams, who all read what we write, lol!
Should I say Nick Lowe is the Jesus of Cool?
Not at this time of year, lol!
Merry Whatever back Grinch!
Thanks for the listen and writing, get back on your meds, lol,
Mike

Good Christmas show Mike.  Here are the songs I liked:

Celebrate, Jingle Bell Rock, Be My Guest, Fleece navi dodddddd, Every Thing's Changed At Christmas But You, Christmas As I Knew It and Children Go Where I Send The.

That's pretty much everything except the Elvis song.  That was way too long.  You know I usually like The King, but not this version of this song.

The Golden Pell was a tuffy.  First I thought Fats Domino, and it's hard to beat Johnny Cash, but I'm settling on:  Everything's Changed At Christmas But You by Drew Holcomb And The Neighbors.  Very nice song.

The who sisters? Bosley sisters? Not The Andrews Sisters. I couldn't understand the words coming out of your mouth?????? Say what????

Yay. Elvis. Yay. The screams on this song sounded so fake.

That new favorite Xmas xong of yours was a bit depressing, wasn't it? I ain't chaning for Xmas, that's for damn sure.

And then the song about poppa killing a squirrel. WHY???? Why kill a fuzzy creature? Did they eat it? I don't think they mentioned EATING the squirrel.

It's like me saying I killed Santa Clause and then didn't follow up on that. Why did I kill Santa? Did he deserve it? Was it because he didn't get me something I wanted when I was a kid? Is this just stupid since SANTA CLAUS DOES NOT EXIST AND YOU CANNOT KILL SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT EXIST?

HEY, KIDS: SANTA ISN'T REAL!

I giggle now because I have just ruined millions and millions of dreams. Probably Rjhog's too, and that makes it even funnier.

Nick Lowe is cool. He was in a group. It was mentioned before. i won't mention that groups name again, other than to say it is probably one of the greatest debut one off albums of all time.

Merry Xmas. Whatever.
