ROCKOLLECTIONS: FALL FASHION SHOW - SHOES PT.2

We continue with the Rockollections Fall Fashion Show with Shoes.
It's strange, but no matter how minor or innocuous some Theme Shows and Series are- and this certainly is not in any way profound- there are always serious songs within that Theme.
I'll be playing a few among all the other fun ones in these Four Parts.
There's one in here about a return from a romantic vacation with a trace of sand, but with an even larger amount of longing.
The songs chosen for this episode may surprise you.
They surprised me on playback, lol!
Songs and artists I have never played on the show before!
Enough writing, please give a listen to some stream of consciousness, Free-Form Radio with an uncommon musical subject.

Well not censors, but since they depend on government support and contributions, they don't want any problems with language.

They didn't catch nor did you.

I KNOW what a portable listening device is, I have about a dozen of them.

I just have never heard anyone REFER to them as a a portable listening device!

It sounds so THONGY, LOL!

You have censors?

Nope, didn't catch it. Probabl because it was The Band.

A portable listening device! A Walkman. Jeez, get with the 2000's!

Jon,

A listening device?
Whatever can you mean?

Too late to erase anything, the Dido song worked so it stays, as do all my screwups which I never remove, lol!

Oh I really love the Band, and did you catch what I sneaked past the censors in that Rock & Roll Shoes song?

"Some might even say
It put the devil in my soul
But that's a bunch of shit
I just want to rock and roll".
Mike Pell, Rock & Roll Rebel, lol!

I have the Beatles on my listening device, that blue album greatest hits thing and it has Old Brown Shoe.

Yep, Dido and M&M did that song "Stan" together a few years back. Are you going to erase it now??????

I'm not particularly into The Band. They are really boring to me except for a few songs. This isn't one of those songs.

Jon,
Well aren't we Mr. Happy when you open with two songs you DON'T like!
I think your thong is too tight, lol!
How the hell did you happen to hear Old Brown Shoe?
Definitely not on the radio, right?
Good call on my playing it.
Oh I have no use for rap, so don't tell me Dido sang that crap.
I would have filed her the same way!
And the best Mr. Happy can bring himself to say is the song didn't suck, LOL!
See what I wrote RJ for my reaction to playing KC and the Sunshine Band.
I was temporarily possessed by something, lol!
You AGREED with RJ though, write down the date!
What about the Band song? Am I the only one who...?
Thanks for the listen and writing, more Shoes next week...hard to believe eh?

RJ,
Thanks for the cool show remark, incredible how much fun you can have with a subject like Shoes.
No ego, but I think I am becoming the best at these things!
That's one of the very lesser known Beatle songs.
Funny line about Tom Waits doing the Cookie Monster's voice, LOL!
I think it was the Valentines Day show, when I played the title track Blue Valentine by Waits.
How come you haven't listened yet?
Wait, I think I know, like me you have tons of CD's unheard.
The Golden Pell goes to Elvis Costello for The Angels Wanna Wear My Red Shoes, an excellent choice and the best song I played in that half.
But I thought it would ineleigible because I was sure you had heard it before!
That's surprsing, lol!
Costello is well worth investigating.
I've never played Dido before on the show, but I started listening to her when the guy Craig Kilborn on the old Late Late Show raved about her and had some fun in the process.
Play it for the wife, lol!
Don't know why I happened to remember the shoes song by her, and it was a natural thought to take it to the Drifters.
Couldn't you just hear Under The Boardwalk in there?
It's a reflex action whenever I play a disco thing like by KC and the Sunshine Band, I just cringe, lol!
You are correct, it is in Saturday Night Fever!
Now how come nobody has mentioned the great, killer ending with The Band?
That was an encore song at a concert hall I used to be able to walk to.
Thanks for the listen and writing, you are ALMOST caught up, lol,
Mike

I dunno...some Tom Waits' songs I like, some I don't. This one I don't. Most Elvis Costello songs I don't like, and this is one of them.

Before I listened to the show, I actually listened to Old Brown Shoe and wondered if you were going to play it. And lookee there! You did! So I heard it TWICE today!

I was really impressed by the Dido song. I believe she did something with the idiot rapper from Detroit, Marshmallows Matters or something like that, so I filed her away into the "suck" catagory. But this song didn't suck.

I finally agree with Rjhog. Doesn't man I can stand him or anything, but no issue with me with some KC!

This, as usual, was a cool show Mike.

I thought the Beatles tune was good, but I'm not crazy about Tom Waits.  Did he do Cookie Monster's voice on Sesame Street?  Funny thing is, I own the album this song is from.  You played a song that I really liked on a previous show and it inspired me to buy the album.  I have yet to listen to it.

The Golden Pell goes to Elvis Costello this week for Angels Wanna Wear My Red Shoes.  What a cool song by someone I've never really gotten.  But a close second was Dido.  I've never heard a single song by her until now.  Sand In My Shoes is way cool and sounds like something my wife would like.  I like it too.

And how could it bother you to play KC and the Sunshine Band.  They are cool, and so is Boogie Shoes.  I think that comes from Saturday Night Fever, or at least it's on the soundtrack.
